Andrew Tubbs of Williams Sasser Guide Service helped Justin and Mike Marsh land lots of stripers and hybrids at Clarks Hill Lake (J. Strom Thurmond Lake). The fish were eating live blueback herring fished on Carolina rigs at depths just above the level baitfish and striped bass were seen on the depth-finder screen, which was between 60 and 70 feet.
The fish were biting near the dam and at the creek mouths just upstream of the dam. Tubbs was using baitcasting rods and reels with medium-heavy freshwater action.
Drifting with six lines in the water at the same time, the action was steady all morning and into the early afternoon, with the largest striped bass weighing 8.4 pounds.
