  • This guy looks way to familiar. He's 10 ft away from where I shot the other buck

Every other picture I am getting on the trophy rock is predators with some bucks mixed in. I've hunted this land and took a large 12 pointer over the past 4 years and have only ran into foxes and 1 coyote. I had the camera out on the trophy rock for one week and never realized what was out there.

A few big boys starting to show up. Had the 8 pointer at 50 yards for 30 minutes chasing a doe but couldnt get a shot with my bow. The old seven is a new deer, no pics of him before.

So I have been watching this six pointer and have passed him up twice. He seems to be 3 1/2 years old and I have been contimplating shooting him for the past week. I hunt on 50 acres of private land that I can only bow hunt. I have only recently been able to hunt it and have had this deer at 15 yards three hunts in a row. I decided to take him yesterday due to the fact he is only a 6. Think he would of sprouted more points next year or a good deer to take out of the herd?

Just got my mount back. This is the third deer Pelletier's Taxidermy has done for me and I couldn't be happier.

This guy was the fourth buck I saw October 26th. Grunted in a 5 and 8 pointer. Switched stands and had another 5 pointer follwed by this bruiser.

Well guys I am going to start off by saying I have checked this site religiously for atleast three years and have never posted, but now I have something to post about.

For the past week the bucks have been tearing it up. New rubs and scrapes were appearing everyday. There was a good scrape line not 100 yards away from a house where the land owner lives. I put a camera out on the 24th on one of the scrapes. Before I headed to my stand yesterday, I checked the camera and the first picture was a giant. Had no prior pictures of this deer this year. Have pictures from last year which he was a 8 with his G1 coming out of the left side of his rack. That got my heart racing as I sent the picture out to all my buddies. I had planned on hunting in a large oak bottom first and then walking back to the field to another stand towards dark. Within 15 mintues of being in the bottom I had grunted in a 5 and 8 pointer. Around 5:45 I decided to head to the stand in the field and at 6:15 another 5 pointer came out and I started videoing him. Not 15 yards behind him this guy steps out. He wasn't in the field 5 seconds before I layed the hammer on him.

A comment titled: Great Morning in the Woods in response to a report titled: NC RUT

Well as I expected the woods were alive this morning. I usually see around 15 does every sit so I expected to see some rut activity this morning. I was not disappointed at all. I can only bow hunt this land. I had three small bucks come in at first light and then the woods exploded with bucks chasing does. Had a very large 8 pointer chase a doe all around my stand but didn't come any closer than 50 yards. In all I saw 5 bucks, only one shooter so I would say the rut is in full effect around the Wake County area. Goin to make my best effort to hunt morning and afternoon the next two weeks.

A comment titled: Age in response to a report titled: Right Move or Not?

I thought the same at first, he was a young deer but after seeing multiple trail carmera shots and how he acts, I figured atleast 3. He has been rutting hard, grunting and chasing does everytime he came in, and he has also been gutted in the pics in my truck.

I hunt in wake county and the bucks have been tearing it up the past two weeks, have several pics on the trail cam over a scrape of bucks fighting. Had a large 6 come in, 16' wide and 10' tines, grunting and chasing on Tuesday. Can't wait for next weeks cold snap to get the big boys out.

A comment titled: $1,600 ????? in response to a report titled: new benelli an Kicks Vortex choke

Sorry guys, I see a Benelli super nova that costs $600-$650 at most. Still a nice gun for duck hunting as I have one myself but this is not the super black eagle. Just wanted to clarify.

A comment titled: Sticker in response to a report titled: Big Buck Down in Wake County

He actually has a 2 1/4 inch drop tine at the base of his left antler as well. He has 12 good scorable points. The sticker and drop are deducted for the net typical, added for net non-typical, added for gross non-typical, and not added or deducted for gross typical.

A comment titled: Score in response to a report titled: Big Buck Down in Wake County

I rough scored this buck yesterday evening:

    Gross Typ= 145 3/4
    Gross Non-Typ= 155 1/4
    Net Typ= 141 1/2
    Net Non-Typ= 150

Just to be fair, I would allow +/- 4 inches due to my measuring and the 60 days drying.
