This morning, I got to my stand late - about 6:35 to be exact. I figured I wouldn't see anything since I was so late but decided to wait it out because my husband and his friend were hunting on neighboring farms. The stand I was hunting in overlooked two fields; one large and the other is a 1 acre field surrounded by trees. I was hunting a rub line. About 7:30, I scanned the large field and decided to look over into the small field and there he stood just coming out of the woods, this nice 8 pointer. After he took about 10 steps in, I dropped him using my Browning X-Bolt in 7mm-08 with 140g Nosler accubond. What a day!
I killed my first deer with a bow yesterday evening. The 7 pointer was taken with a Parker Side-Kick Extreme (pink camo) using Victory Pink Arrows and Magnus Stinger broadheads. The broadheads made a great cut; the deer bled out quickly and left a GREAT blood trail. My husband and father were almost as excited as I was!
