tow and a half years ago Donna said that she wanted to go hunting with me. I told her that she needed to find and take the hunter safety course. That Saturday she was in the course and passed. That Spring We did some turkey hunting where she missed the Tom. Deer season came and wanted to try it. I took her to one of my stands and said do you think you can climb the tree. Heck ya and 25 ft up she went. That year she shot her first deer a doe and the bug has bitten her.
On November 20th of this year she was in the best stand that I have. I put out some doe in heat because the wind was just right. I had shot my 11 pointer the night before so I was relaxing on the front porch of out camp. About 5 pm I heard her shoot and waited for her to call me on the radio.
Soon this very excited voice called out and said deer down. We have a rule that the deer must be at least a 6 or better for first timers. I know this area very well and I knew that she would see a good buck. She said that she had a spike, a nice 6(she thinks) and when she had the scope on the 6 the big 7 walked into her view. One shot and the deer dropped in its tracks. I am so proud of her. I had her horns mounted so they can hang between the 8 have on the wall and the 11 that is being mounted as I write. I feel so luck that I have a wife that enjoys hunting as much as I do. Oh by the way she has been using my 30-06 and I have had to borrow another rifle from my friend so I can hunt when she hunts
North Hampton Co. What a surprise.
This deer stepped out at sunset and gave me a good shot at 150 yds.
So proud of my wife. She started hunting last year. We hunt in N. Hampton county.Nice 7 pointer.
