  • Took a while, but here it is! Last year was not good, first year I didnt kill one with my bow in 10 years, guess I made up for yesterday afternoon! This deer came out with another small buck around 655 pm and went to breaking trees, scraping the ground and such. He came to a corn feeder I set up and was about 12 yards away when I pulled the trigger. He only ran about 100 yards before he crumbled. Guess the Thunder Head did what it was suppossed to do! And I couldnt have been happier with my shot placement! When your heart is beating about 200 a minute, dont ask me how I made such a well placed shot!! What I was surprised about was this buck seemed to be in pre rut already. His glands were wet, he stank, dont know if that little cool spell did something to them or what. Anyway, he was at the taxidermy last night after the cleaning! Going to join my 10 on the wall I got last year with my rifle! This is a Wake county deer killed on my family farm about 300 yards from my house. Been on the site for a while now, just never had anything I really wanted to show off! Anyway, Thanks for looking!

i know this may belong in the classafied section but i figured i would have a better response if i post here. i have a little over 800 rounds of 7.62X39 (ak.sks, mini 30) ammo that i need to sell. 500 rounds are still in the case plastic, black box wolf. the other rounds are military surplus. there are 2 still vaccum sealed bricks and 1 open brick with all the rounds accounted for even though it is open. asking 275 for the lot. last i looked a case was about 400 dollars. post up if interested and we can make arrangements. thanks

I shoot an old, possibly 1990 model year, Pearson Spoiler+, my dad had it and Ive maintained it. Killed lots of deer with it so I see no reason to change. 62# draw weight, 29 inch draw length, Easton axis 400 arrows tipped with Thunderhead 100 broadheads. Truglo pendulum sight, Truball release, and a speedslider for my cables. Whisker biscuit with the notch cut out for faster nocking. Considering getting a new bow sometime, but have not decided. Any recommedations!!

A comment titled: not trying to brag in response to a report titled: Thermacell

but I swear I think i was one of the first in NC to get a thermacell!! About 10 years ago I was on patrol and stopped at a small taxidermy/hunting supply store in Johnston county. The owner and I were talking and on the counter were 2 boxes each with a thermacell in it. I asked about them and he said they were a miracle. I had never seen one in wal mart or anywhere else and did not know what they were. The owner said they were going to be the reason Bugtamer would go out of business. He told me about them and said he got them in SC and he had not seen them anywhere in NC. He said that the they worked so well that the SC hunters were hunting in t-shirts and shorts, covering their bare skin with camo make-up. When I heard that I knew I had to have one,, so I paid 60 something dollars for it!!! I still have it and it goes on every hunting ishingcamping anything outdoors trip I go on. I have killed plenty of deer with it on. It dont seem to bother the deer, but I do sit 30 feet up a tree! Buy one you'll be very pleased. Now you can get them anywhere for about 25 dollars,,, go figure!

A comment titled: Dont forget the winter wheat! in response to a report titled: BAD APPLES??????

Im with Viper. I have tried different things in the past to get deer into bow range and talked with several people about this same thing. If deer aint used to it, they probably aint going to eat it unless thats the only thing around. Several diehards have also said that the old, seasoned,,ie BIG bucks, wont go to a new corn pile because it was not there just a few weeks ago. They recommend year round corning so they get used to it. I live and hunt in the wake/johnston county areas and have discovered that they love corn, about 100 lbs every 4 or 5 days,,,, until the tobacco is out of the field and winter wheat is planted as a cover. During December when its cold and food is short, when that lush green wheat starts to sprout up in the fields, my bow hunting is limited to trail stands and thats if I get lucky enough for one to slow down while they run to the wheat field. I have put corn out when wheat was in the field and it stayed there for the rest of the season. They dont want it anymore. When that starts happening, I usually put the bow up and get out the 6.5x284!! I dont think i can hit those deer in the field about 300-400 yards out with my old Pearson Spoiler+!!!
