  • I went hunting today on a lease I have in Lee County. It got windy and I decided to walk the property boundries and to my disbelief I found a nice brand new ladder stand. Its on the Lee /Harnett line if you read this and its yours you have 24 hours to move it or it will be mine.I hate to be like that but I don't tresspass on your land so stay off mine. If it was on the boundry line it would not bother me as much but its only 50 yards from my lock on and well onto my lease.I really hope to catch you in it though. Then you can deal with the man.

I didn't get to come to the classic.I however did look at all of the photo's of the deer. There where a lot of nice deer killed this year, however some of the mounts were less than I would expect from a Taxidermist. I went for a year to school for it.I know sometimes cheaper sounds better maybe true for some people .But I know if I hang something on the wall I want it to look good! please don't get me wrong.I just know how it is to get the phone calls asking how much it cost and get hung up on because they thought it was too high and could get it done for $100 to $200 dollars cheaper. I don't do any work anymore unless its for family.

I killed this early December. I was sitting in a stand along a fence line with some heavy wooded area between the soy bean field and a strip of tall grass about 20 yds wide by 200 yds long. figured that were I would see the deer but as always it don't work like you expect, happen to look out over soy bean field and all i could see were horns.knew i could make the 200 yd shot and as soon as bullet hit it was on the ground, then seconds later it stood strait up and come running at me like it wasn't hurt. Shot him between shoulder blades at 15 ft.

Is it just me or do all the pitures taken by trail cam have to be taken of the night time to get voted on,by the staff. My youngest brother got what I thought was a good piture that was one in a million chances of getting a deer and hunter on photo at the same time.I told him where to set up the trail cam.Did not know it would also show him in ladder stand also. Its only a five acre tract he has to hunt and he keeps waiting on the big one or a mature doe. He's killed one deer off the property 3years ago and it. Was a tropy buy any means it had a perfect right side but the left side had got twisted some how and was all going strait down.

I do know a lot of people that run a boat to where they want to hunt, just have to be careful and check game land maps to be sure of which county you are in .And regs I do know one of the counties you have to be 8ft or higher.

I was muzzleloading one year before they changed the seasons in harnett county and I heard a buck grunting in a pine forest that was a plant bed at one time. Well a doe steped out and I shot her had some tinks 69 hung on a tree with the old ceramic disc the 7 point came and stuck his nise strait in it and was doing all kind of crazy things I was trying to get reloaded shaking badley finly got it done and shot the 7 and he fell right below the tinks. My brother was sitting close enough to see it all go down and he couldn't believe it.That was pure luck. But as far as the rut I think everyone is right.Killed a small one tuesday and his tarsal glands was starting to get dark and his neck was swollen. He wasn't chasin just feeding up the ridge on acorns.

iknow it takes deer a while to get used to the feeders,I would try and scatter corn out away from feeders a slowly move it closer to feeders. It can take up to a year for deer to get used to them

For mollys backbone which is bow hunting only for deer take hwy 150 to sherrils ford at light take a right comming from moorsville, then take a right onto mollys backbone rd follow till you get to the lake go to top of hill and there should be a pulloff spot on left. Its been 15 years since I hunted there should be goo directions there are some nice deer back in the hardwoods and its easy walking down a logging rd. Now the secton you are looking for is right in front of browns chapel rd. Again from 150 take sherrils ford rd to long island rd to brown chapel rd.There is a field in front of the gamelands with roads on both ends you can't see the gameland signs till you get to gates .Hope this helps and sorry it took so long to reply I figured someone closer to that area would help ya out.If you have any questions about the directions go to ncwildlife.org and go to hunting and where to hunt and look it up on interactive maps and you might find a quicker route.

Nice deer ,lots of mass.I killed my first deer right before I went in the Marines in 88.I was way smaller than that one.Hope you have a good tour of duty.I got lucky and spent my time on Kings Bay GA,where the deer hunting was good at that time there was an estmate of 100 deer per sq mile.
