  • Figured I'd post this pic. It shows the deer was a fresh kill and just loaded up into the truck. Also shows the kids 'hunting attire'

Congrats on a nice deer. Mark, is it really .27 caliber? I havent never had to worry about it so I havent looked. But I do know in Ky you can use any centerfire rifle no matter the caliber.

I sincerley hope that is untrue. But as far as it isnt stiff enough to have been shot at night. The boys sister has posted on nchunt&fish that it was indeed shot at night. I unserstand where you're comin from but the pic of it in the truck says otherwise. And what his sister said just puts the icing on the cake.

I'm not trying to sound like an ass, but why do people feel the need to kill young bucks? I can see maybe shooting the one on the ground, but the other two i dont know about. It seems if you're looking to fill the freezer a doe would do just fine. I'm thinking north carolina needs to make some regulation changes. Like only allowing 1 or 2 bucks to be taken and a minimun of 16 or 18 inch inside spread. You won't never kill a big one if you shoot all the little ones. They gotta grow old to grow big.

Just thought about it. From the looks of it, he rode this deer around all night and the next day without even field dressing it. It appears he took it out of the truck the next morning and put his camo jacket on and snapped a few pics with it. I agree with you viper, give him something to think about. The only thing i can think of to make this worse is if a kid hunted on the land this buck was shot. A true kid, not a teenager.

Real nice buck. But i'm not sure i'd be willing to pay almost $1500 to shoot one. Although it's considerably less money than that wayne county deer is gonna cost.

I wonder if the kid had just waited till mornin and pick it up, and not ride around and show it off, would he be in the situation he's in now. Seems he got big headed and wanted to e king of the hill but wasnt ready for the attention it brought. He got too greedy.

Go to nchunt&fish. go to the deer hunting section and click the 'state record?' link. His sister had posted about the buck being a possible state record and defended her brother from all the nay sayers. But She then posted on how she was told a lie and issued an apology to everyone. And that her brother had been charged with night hunting (in her words). The pic of the deer in the truck in the dead of night with a fresh puddle of blood dripping from it's mouth kinda confirms he was spotlighting. And the fact the kid and his friend were both in polo shirts and nice jeans.

Looks like that one should've been passed. Would've been a nice one in a couple of years. See it too often, 'it's got antlers, shoot it'.
