  • Some buddys and me had a good day man driving today. Nothing on the first drive, but got 10 does on the second. Had to quit after that and clean deer. Sorry for the blood, but it's part of the hunt.

    December 22, 2010 at 8:37pm

Not 2 many hogs right now, but these guys are showing up every night. Nice but not 20 inchers.

    October 09, 2010 at 11:08pm

My buddy took this boar couple weeks ago at my club. Young one but still bout 200lbs. He had 6' of carbon shaft & expandable broadhead in his neck. Second boar in a row we've taken with an arrow in his neck. Bad shootin!!!

    September 25, 2010 at 2:40pm

Shouldn't use those lightweight deer arrows on big hogs!!

    August 01, 2010 at 7:37pm

Bottom razors were 2.25' long, not to mention the whets!!! Bad, bad trouble if you get too close!!!!

    July 29, 2010 at 7:40pm

Me & my buddy Brian doubled up last Sat. nite. His boar was 2 big 4 my 200lb deer scale. (def gotta get hog scale) But I'm sure it was in the 265-275 range, I know what a 300lb hog looks like when you see em layin there on the ground. My sow was bout 215-220. Another happy first timer buddy.

    July 29, 2010 at 7:13pm

My buddy took this 210lb. sow just after midnight Friday. Dropped her in her tracks. GOTTA LOVE IT!!!! Very happy first timer.

    July 11, 2010 at 4:54pm

Got a 215lb boar last Sat nite. Way hot!! Cooler not workin rite now & had 2 cut him up quik. They're everywhere rite now. You can see he kinda went 2 sleep in the 2nd pick. I pour out the corn & put the 8X16 blocks setting in 3' of concrete on top of 3' of corn. Gives em somethin 2 play with. Just a little info 2 kinda give ya'll some scale of their size.

    June 21, 2010 at 8:23pm

Buddy of mine took this 230lb. boar in early April on my club. His first hog. Let em hang in a cooler for 5-7 days makes a big difference on the grill!!! He ate real good!!

    June 13, 2010 at 6:41pm

    June 12, 2010 at 9:45pm

    January 06, 2010 at 1:59pm

You talking bout a happy girl!! My friend Jessica took her first buck ever yesterday afternoon. A nice 6 pointer with some short kickers at the bases. All of her friends are so happy for her. She spends alot of time in the woods, and has finally been rewarded. YOU GO GIRL!!! ROCK ON!!!

    December 16, 2009 at 6:46am

My cousin took his nicest buck ever 12/12/09. Came out to the feeder at last light. 9 pointer 18.5 inside. Took him a couple of shots to finish him but he got him. He's one happy hunter. Way to go cuz!!!

    December 13, 2009 at 7:40am

Can someone help me with this? A couple months back I swear I read on the NCWRC website that H29 was passed removing the firearms restriction during the closed big game season on the game lands. I just checked the website again and I can't find the news release about this.

    November 23, 2009 at 9:12am

I think they're at home. Went last night & they were there, just couldn't get a shot. Maybe tonight!! The pic from the 17th is right before the Boar GOT IT!!

    November 19, 2009 at 6:44am

Got this 112 lb. boar last night bout 7:15. Second pic is after I washed all the mud off. 12 to 15 hogs at feeder but only got 1 shot and they were gone.

    November 18, 2009 at 7:25am

They left for a while after I killed that sow & the acorns started keeping them occupied. Had 380 pix in two days. As many as 15 hogs in some of them.

    November 09, 2009 at 10:30am

A comment titled: Man Drive in response to a report titled: Good day man driving

This drive was conducted on a dairy farm on the Alamance/Orange county line that is very over populated with deer. Out of approx. 25 deer that came out of the 15 acre block, only 2 or 3 were non-shooter bucks. I personally didn't see any and was one of the drivers on this run. But I was very pleased to help the land owner with population control. 2 fawns, 3 yearlings & 5 mature does. All the mature does were pregnant with twins, some of which may have been bucks. There are big bucks on the property, but none were seen. We're gonna do it again Friday. Stay tuned!!!

A comment titled: Corn pile in response to a report titled: Nice but need to grow

I pile it up like to get good pix of the hogs, but they are elsewhere feeding on acorns I guess. They're still around cause I heard 'em fighting the other nite. Haven't had any hog pix in a couple weeks, but lots of pix of these two bucks.

Had pretty good luck so far myself. Thats a huge hog in those pix. I've heard my neighbor has taken a couple 400 pounders but I haven't seen any that big, at least not yet!! Keep up the great work!!!

A comment titled: Hogman in response to a report titled: 2 More down!!!!!

Hogman is on my camera & I've had an old 78 Chevy that's camoflaged for 23 years. They both fit. Skinned the hogs yesterday and had fresh backstrap & cracklins. That sow had an inch of fat all over her. Also found 5' of carbon with a broadhead in the boars neck (see pic).

A comment titled: D-40's in response to a report titled: CAMERA BATTRES

My oldest D-40 (2.5 yrs) took bout 1500 nitetime deer pix B4 I started taking hog pix. Then it took over 4000 nitetime hog pix. Then it stopped flashing but would still be taking pix. I used 6 energizer D and they lasted bout 2000 nitetime pix plus whatever daytime pix. Daytime didn't use much juice. Gonna see if moultrie can put a new flash in it. It was set to take 3 pix a minute every minute, and it was very movement sensitive. Love that camera!!! But I bought another one bout 8 months ago, and it won't wake up. Gotta send it back too. Been using my buddy's D-40 last couple months. Can't really complain about the camera if they were all like my first one. Decent, inexpensive camera. They've got a D-50 out now. BPS has got them in their online catalogue. Might have to try one of them.

Maybe Viper!!! LOL!!! Funny thing is I was joking with my buddy (see recent post & pic), the night we put the apples out about walking up on one we just dropped with an apple in his mouth. LOL!!! Would've had to post a pic of that!!! They may have eaten some of them after they started to rot. Don't know.

A comment titled: Hogs in response to a report titled: Another 1 bites the dust!!!

Yeah. Feeding corn & some early apples my buddy gave me. I have a feeder up and some corn poured out. I have also used 'Pig Likkor' & 'Hog Heaven' products from Wildgame Innovations. They come in & stay for couple hours at a time. I'm nite huntin on private land. They are pretty much nocturnal where I am. Don't get any daytime pix.

A comment titled: Quite Possible in response to a report titled: t.n.t.

Can't shoot em & most of us know why. Duh!!!!!! Think deer management & auto insurance. Nothing in this world is impossible unless you can prove it so my friends.
Buddy of mine used to trap in the 70's in Caswell swears he saw a cougar one day while checking his traps. Thought it was an oddly colored bobcat till he saw it in full view. Know that's been a while. But once again, nothing is impossible. Especially this day & time! Another buddy of mine hunts in a couple areas in the mountains said he saw a big cat while deer hunting a couple years ago. He talked to the local wildlife authority about it and said they brushed him off like he was crazy. He told them the next time he saw it he was gonna shoot it & show it to them. They told him him that they wouldn't do that if they were him.
Don't know if any of you have seen the television show 'Monster Quest' but they had an episode on about a year ago where they were researching big cat sightings in the south. They talked to some people east of Raleigh who were losing livestock to a predator they said was a big cat. They also talked to some people who had seen some instances of half eaten deer hanging from tree limbs. Don't think that's a cougar or panther but don't leopards do that. I know there used to be another North American big cat other than the cougar, maybe a leopard native to south Texas. Haven't seen any myself, but not gonna say it ain't so. Just my 2 cents.

A comment titled: Public Hearing in response to a report titled: Public Hearings

The hearings are meant to give hunters & or non-hunters the oportunity to voice their opinion on proposals to change any NCWRC regulations. Went well. I've been going to these hearings for several years now & enjoy hearing the comments from other sportsmen. Not alot of proposals on the table this year, but as you know several from last year are still being reviewed. I was surprised to see a proposal for an armadillo season. Didn't realize any were around. My main comments were about extending the muzzle loading season, earn a buck, and some clarification of the gray areas in the regulation book about feral hog hunting. In my opinion, any extension of the firearms season should be restricted to 'does only.' We all know that some areas have too many deer. The only way to keep numbers in check is to take out the does. Putting any extra pressure on the bucks doesn't do any thing to help control the population.
The two buck rule has helped the quality of the bucks I've seen harvested the last couple of years. 'Earn a buck' would take the next step in improving the quality of bucks and reducing the quantity of deer. As far as the 'non-regulated' feral hogs, ther are too many gray areas about hunting them on private land. I've been told by several wardens that I can do what I want, 'BUT?'. I want something in print. Hopefully the Commission will clear up some things.

A comment titled: Thief in Caswell in response to a report titled: Thief in the woods in Caswell Co.

I've been in my still hunting club in Caswell for 22 years. We used to have a problem with stands getting gone & I've had to escort people off the property. We've had people come riding in on the place and say 'Well I just wanted to see where the road went to.' They were told to leave before the sheriff got there. The gate gets locked behind me every time I enter. There is nothing lower than a thief. I hope you get your stuff back, but if not maybe the culprit will have a fortunate hunting accident. What goes around comes around.

A comment titled: H5 Proposal in response to a report titled: What's with the H5 proposal........

Archery equipment is a legal manner of taking for the entire season. Guns & dogs are not. I enjoy it all here in the central season. I dog hunt here and do everything I can to not step on any toes, apparently unlike most dog hunters down east. You (bow) guys in the east do need a little more time 'ALONE' in the woods, maybe like the central season. Unfortunately, the insurance commission in this state has a say in the NCWRC's proposals toward thinning the deer herd, and are all for killing more deer. Sadly, archery equipment, selective harvest, and the 4 buck rule do nothing to thin the herd. Me personally, I would love to see a 3 year moratorium on taking bucks state wide. Does only. The only way to thin the herd is to kill the does, BIG TIME!!! Can you imagine what would be running around in the woods after that 3 year period? B & C's everywhere and a heathier population because the bucks can get more to eat. 1 or 2 bucks statewide would be great only after you take out some does. Kill 2 does & you get a buck tag & repeat. I love to be in the woods. At this point in my life, I don't care if I kill another anything. Just trying to enjoy being out there! Good luck to everyone the rest of the season!!!

Man what a buck!! He's awesome!!! Said the very same prayer many times, but I'm still waiting patiently for my answer. I've let so many very nice deer walk waiting on my 160 class 20' wide buck of a lifetime. SOMEDAY!!!

A comment titled: Not Many Left in response to a report titled: What happened to honest hunting?

As with everything in life,(not only hunting) there are people who could care less about others. For them it's 'all about me'. They don't care who's toes they step on, they're just doing what it takes to benefit themselves. I don't care if I ever kill another anything, I just want the oportunity to enjoy what the good lord has given to all of us.

Guess they want to 'chew the fat' for a whole year instead of trying to get something passed for the pending season.
