  • Just recently got these picks back from a friend. My camera was unavailable so I had to wait. Anyway, harvested December 24, 2008. 124.5 greenscore. Maybe 125 lbs...Too bad he was a young deer, but he is at the taxidermist anyway!

Harvested this buck saturday 11/1...He came within 5 steps of my tree, too early to see through the scope...When he got downwind from me, he trotted off...After it was light enough to see, I tried the grunt a few time but was unsuccessful. About 25 minutes later I hit the grunt pretty hard several times, he came back though the woods to about 30 yards...Man I wish I'd of had my bow!!!! He's an old mature buck...On his down side as far as antler growth. His back is skinned from where has been fightin'...

If I am not mistaken...Sunday hunting is only allowing bowhunting...So everything about firearms is irrelevant.

And you are right...No one has the right to tell another person how to spend their time...But seriously, how long did it take you to come up with all this? Do you really have nothing better to do? Each person needs to make the decision to hunt or not to hunt on Sunday on their own! But I would encourage you to not let hunting interfere with your opportunity to worship and fellowship at church...Church is also a freedom that is under close scrutiny!

A comment titled: Rut in response to a report titled: Rut

The weather has very little if anything to do with the rut. Moon phases affect the rut more than the weather, but do not dictate the beginning of rut. Doe come into estrous...Not all at the same time, that is why you have about a 2-3 week window to catch the rut. Then, 28 days later, doe that did not breed have another estrous cycle. Hence the December rut around the second week of December. You'll begin to see new rubs and scrapes that bucks check which is pre-rut activity and then continues through the rut. The rut does not happen at the same time everywhere. In the eastern part of the state generally the best week is the first week of November...This year it seemed to be the last week of October. By now, the doe are no longer in estrous, or are about done. Hope this helps!!!

The best thing I can tell ya is to get your proof, a lawyer, and present your case to a judge. Cause nothing you write on here is helping your cause one bit!

A comment titled: Give it a REST in response to a report titled: STOP the dogs

The more I read these posts the more I get get the feeling that you may have actually provoked some of this!!! I am not saying that it is okay for someone to trespass or knowingly set dogs out to run on your land, but there is a right and a wrong to attempt to get a persons cooperation. I get the feeling from reading these posts Paul, that you are just as ridiculous as the people you are writing about!!! I am an avid hunter, and much prefer still hunting over running dogs. As a matter of fact, it wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit if they did do away with running dogs...But the fact of the matter is that a lot of things piss people off...Deal with it!!! If those guys have 10 acres to put out dogs, there is nothing you can do about it...It is their legal right to put those dogs out even if they run onto your land! If they turn out the dogs while on your property...I am sure there is a way to prove it...Don't come onto this site whining about it....Do something about it! This site is to post pics and tell good stories about the hunt! Not this 'stop the dogs crap'...There will never be an agreement on that topic!

A comment titled: Other 2 things in response to a report titled: 3 Things You Don't Want Deer Hunting

Just outta curiosity...What are the other two things??

BTW - I wouldn't worry too much about a bear...every encounter I have ever had with a bear while hunting has resulted in the bear running away...But that's just me! One thing it will not help is your deer hunting...deer will not come around as long as you have that bear hanging out at you corn pile...

A comment titled: Proposal in response to a report titled: Opinion on hunting regulation

I appreciate the links to check everything out! It appears to be better than I thought...At least we will still have a separate season for bow hunting & even 'inline rifle season' (formerly known as primitive weapons season).

As for bag limits...I agree that they should have a limit of 2 buck/season...BUT I am not sure that it will help much. I have hunted in central and eastern NC my whole life. From what I have witnessed, they may as well have an either sex unlimited season. Some of you know what I mean!

A comment titled: changes in response to a report titled: Opinion on hunting regulation

Does anyone have a link to the proposed changes? I have not seen them...

I do not oppose Sunday hunting...Although I will probably not hunt on Sunday. I live in eastern NC...the last I heard, there was a suggestion to have an any legal weapon open all season...I am NOT for that...That would probably not happen anyway because the bow hunters association is all over that.

    October 10, 2008 at 9:40am

That'll never happen...Bow hunters association is all over that!
