  • I'm such a proud dad! My daugthers have NEVER been interested in hunting until they recently saw some feral pigs on our property. Darien my youngest had never even fired a weapon until a week before her kill! Both girls kill thier hogs with 1 Shot, both hitting the spine and in Elizabeth's case the bullet hit the spine at the neck and exited the the chest after hitiing the heart! Now they are planning thier 1st deer hunt when the season gets here! I CAN'T WAIT!

I don't bow hunt but for the 1st 2 weeks I had very few buck photos, this past week the bucks have started showing up on trail cams.

JTR, I Agree a lot of eastern hunters don't register deer that they kill, so they are breaking the law, raise the penalties for those breaking the law; ban them for life, $2000 fine etc. if caught. As for, 'I'm sorry my dogs went across your land' that is B@@@s*&t, it is done on purpose, if gun season is allowed as early as bow season then do away with dog season. How about this ONE week of dog season after the rut, late December? How about Jan. 1st to 7th? :-) I hunt a 50 acre track and they run dogs through all the time, I spend lot’s of $$$ to still hunt, how would the dog hunter’s feel if I STOPPED the dog’s I see even though the dogs ARE trespassing? By the way I've never had a dog chasing a fox come across me.

Okay 'viperx X', what makes a big buck is food and AGE, with genes being the last factor (sign up for www.qdma.com),a descent buck needs at least 3.5 years (so yes there is a 'receipe' for big bucks, why would NC have fewer big buck's then other states?). Let’s limit buck tags to 2 with one being 8 points or greater, then offer unlimited doe tags. That will allow the people who want to just kill a large quantity of deer to do just that, and it would make those 2 Buck tags special. Does have fawns, not bucks, but in the thousands of game trail photos I have doe’s out rank bucks 4 to 1. One buck can service many does. Any way’s I’m speaking from the southeastern region of NC, Brunswick County were very few bucks make it a descent size. … And I think it’s because people would rather shoot a young 6 to 8 pointer instead of waiting for a nice buck. I don’t bow hunt but I do muzzle hunt, increasing the rifle season might help the overpopulation but it will also decrease the quality of bucks available. I would even be agreeable to a extend the rifle season if at the same time we limint the buck tags.
