Around 8:00 am on 12/20/06 while I was deer hunting in Granville County, I noticed a coyote coming my way. I decided that I was not going to shoot it do to the fact I was hunting in an area that had signs of a very big buck. I noticed that the coyote was looking back several times and it was then I saw a second coyote that was larger and then I decided to take the larger one. When both coyotes reached about 70-75 yards away I yelped 3 times to get them to stop. The hammer fell on the T/C Pro Hunter and so did the coyote. The coyote turned out to be a male that weighed 40 lbs and will be added to the trophy collection.

I would certainly say this will be an experience she will always remember. So awesome to see a parent or grandparent passing down the hunting life and teaching the skills that would help her to take such an awesome deer (shooting at the range, watching hunting shows, etc.). Hand shack to the parent or grandparent who gave her that probably once in lifetime experience, you made the decision to let her take such a great deer....you both will remember. The big smile alone tells it all.

To take such a awesome deer the first time in the stand by himself, I would say this will be 'One To Remember.' Great start at being a awesome hunter and keep it up. Also, someone is doing a great job teaching to hold back for the older and bigger deer...hats off to you as well.

If you saved the jaw bone and you haven't already, be certain to get the deer aged, would really be interesting to know the age. If you did or do let me know.

If all NC Hunters would hold off and wait to only shoot 3 1/2 yr old or older deer, we would see more and more awsome deer just like yours. Your off to a good start and keep it up.
