  • My first Sunday bird in NC!

    April 11, 2016 at 9:13am

Took 3 long hours of working this bird hard Sat the 18th to seal the deal. I thought he was henned up as soon as he was off the roost and decided to hold off on pursuing for a bit. Had a few other hot birds close but appeared they were locked down with a cluster of hens as well. Had to almost double back twice on this guy, but it worked in my favor. Best part is my wife was along side to enjoy as well. ~20 lbs. 11 inch beard and 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 8in spurs.

Biggest Bow Buck to date. Caught him cruising for the ladies about 0900. Things should really get heated up these next two weeks.

TAGGED OUT in NC with a Birthday Thunder Chicken.
Had to work pretty hard for this bird. Set up in a winter wheat field after a close call at first light. Heard some gobbling not far. Left decoy in the field and realized that the birds might souble back on me. By the time I got back to the field, two strutters were all over my decoy. Was able to get to the edge of the field and worked both birds for over an hour. Finally got one to break away just a bit and hammered him.
Sorry for the shotty pic. Was solo.

Killed this guy at first light Saturday November 19 oin Guilford County, NC. He had a 23 inch inside spread, 24 inch left main beam and 25 inch right main beam. I taped him out at 148 3/8 inches. My biggest 8-pointer to date. The man upstairs was looking out for me that morning. It really goes to show when you pass and pass and pass on younger deer, and all the hours you put in the stand, eventually it will pay off.
