I took my girlfriend out to try to get her first deer and she made a great shot on this cull buck. A trophy is in the eyes of the beholder. Size doesn't matter when it is your first.

Upstate turkey hunting has been great this season! The woods are filled with turkey from a great hatch this past year and should be great in the next few years. Hopefully they will have another great hatch this year!

Im sure everyone who loves to turkey hunt is getting really ancy for Friday morning to come in the upstate!! It cant come soon enough! Good hunting! I just really don't understand why our season doesn't start on March 15 like the lowcountry does though! But I know where I will be set up on opening day.

The turkeys are starting to get fired up and strut really good.

Some more turkey pics from my trail cam plus a coyote pic that I thought was pretty neat but wish I could get rid of them. But obviously they didnt have a big impact on the turkey hatch this past year which is a good thing.

Just sharing some more trail cam pics of turkeys. I cant wait till April 1st is here!

    March 04, 2011 at 7:33pm

From what I hear not only my property had a great turkey hatch this past year but everyone seems to be saying that turkeys had a great hatch all over. Here are some pics that prove that they had a great hatch in my area. Good hunting.

Turkey season is coming soon to South Carolina with the season kicking off in the lowcountry on March 15 and April 1st in the piedmont area. I have been keeping a close watch on my property to the turkeys as the woods are filled with scratching. I have been paying close attention to where the birds are roosting which happens to be right near one of my favorite fields that I kill turkeys in every year. Also the turkeys had an awesome hatch this year and have lots of young birds around, but here are some pics of the birds that I will be after come opening day. Good luck hunting.

As the end of hunting season approaches with waterfowl hunting ending in the next few weeks in South Carolina get out there and get rid of some hogs which are a huge nuisance in many areas of the state! Trapping is a very effective method for those piggies that only come out at night.

Yeah all I need is for the season to start. Wish it started in the upstate on the 15th like it does in the lowcountry. That doesn't really make sense to me why the season does not start at the same time.

Get some stuff called Hog Wild. Its made with crushed berries and mollasses and anything you put it on they will eat it, even the dirt and they cant get enough of it and can smell it from miles. Mix it with corn or just apply it to where they have been rooting by itself. Also trapping is a very effective method and fairly inexpensive and easy to build one. Here is a pic of my trap.

The drive was about 9 hours. We usually kill a good many pintails and wigeon but not this year. Mostly mallards, gadwall, shovelers, woodies, and a few teal and ringnecks.

I have plenty daylight pics of the big 6 point in the morning and afternoon during good shooting light but the big 8 seems to show up around 9:00 or so every night to meet up with the big 6 after shooting light.
