  • Thought I would share this....giant crappie my dad caught today out of lake reese on a shaky head jig don't know for sure what it weighed but it def is the biggest crappie I've seen in person

    April 15, 2012 at 2:52pm

Saw this on southern trophy hunters page on facebook....Said it was killed in Tennessee by Rad Ellington of Jackson, TN 'It's head looked like a peacock buy his lower body like a turkey. The other turkeys would not come close to it' no beard and didn't gobble.....I've heard people say that a turkey and peacock would breed but never seen it till now lol. What is everybody's thought on this???????

Well my dad was finally able to put down a good buck and his biggest yet he has shot alot of deer just not one with a decent set of horns. And I was in the stand with him to see it, we were hunting on a farm in Davidson county on the edge of a cut corn field he came thru at 7 headed to a area were alot of does are he stopped right behind a cedar tree and stood there for a couple minutes just looking into the woods and then finally he walked from out behind it and I made a bleat to stop him and dad dropped the hammer on him. by far one of my most memorable morning in the woods

    December 03, 2011 at 1:14pm

Finally on the board no giant but its still a deer. Shot him at 7 this mornin came in following I think were a doe had walked thru stepped into the road bed at 60 yards stopped him and said lord help me make a good shot and dropped the hammer on him with my muzzle loader smoke cleared and he was still standing there thought I had missed then saw him start shaking then he fell over kicked a couple times and that was it

    November 12, 2011 at 10:55am

The deer are def rutting in my neck of the woods had a buck come thru this mornin chasing a doe and then this evening they were on the other side of the creek and in the creek running back and forth and grunting hard like I told GT this is the first time since killed my last nice buck with a muzzleloader 5 years ago that I have seen the deer rut this hard

    November 09, 2011 at 5:40pm

    Finally showed back up

    October 03, 2011 at 7:13pm

Well I was sitting in my stand this morning watching a fawn in my corn pile when I hear something come tearing thru the cutover Then I hear a bark and it defiantly wasnt a domesticated dog then a deer starts letting out the deepest nastiest grunts ive ever heard and i can tell what ever is chasing and barking is attacking her then after a few minutes it goes silent so I sit up in my stand for about 30 more minutes then i get down as iam coming out about 100 yards from my stand were i heard the commotion there is a dead deer i looked at her for a second then left cause i didnt know if what attacked her was still there or not so when my dad gets home we go back and look again and she had been moved some and the coyote had started eatin on her hind quarters and as we inspected it some we could see a few bites on her neck and scratches. What I couldnt figure out is how a coyote could take down a good size healthy deer like that Unless it is BIG. Put my cam over it hoping to get some pics of the killer But now I really dont care if i kill another deer i just want to get rid of those dang yotes

    August 09, 2011 at 10:34pm

Why is the season opening up om the 11th which is a sunday and not the 10th?

    August 06, 2011 at 8:35pm

caught this fish in a small lake near siler city on a weightless senko work in 6 feet of water caught it on a rod I actually use for crappie but needed something that would throw the weightless senko with ease so I used it took prob at least 5 min to land every time I would bring it close it would take back off but finally she wore down enough to where my dad could net it. caught several keepers and lost another one that would go over 5 so it was definitely a good day

    May 18, 2011 at 10:49pm

Good luck to everybody goin hunting in the morning should be a good one

Why did you automatically assume it was deer dogs?? Was it even deer dogs or just some near by neighbors dogs that they dont keep put up an let run loose cause hell I've to deal with that every year an I live in a county with no dog hunting

I never put my rod down for good even during deer season dont get me wrong I love to hunt but it gets slow during deer season some times and the fall is one of the very best times to fish so I still go

A comment titled: Big Talkers in response to a report titled: Not a shooter yet...agree?

Like every year we once again get a big talker(s) that talk about how they 'manage' 'thier' deer and land then have no deer to show for it cause they claim to pass on so many deer and then want to put down others for what they shoot. GT completely agree with you man, I'am in the same boat I only have small tracts of land to hunt and surrounded by other hunters that like to kill deer too so yea I do shoot some small deer but also shoot alot of does something these 'trophy' hunters want do that's my choice and I will continue to do it whether others agree with me or not

A comment titled: duck huntin in response to a report titled: Looking to start waterfowl hunting

I would try it few times to make sure I like it before ya go overboard buyin stuff cause duck huntin can get expensive quick now as far as guns would upgrade to a 12 guage and as far as shot I shoot number 2 or bigger an most of the time T shot its just me personal preference and what works best for me..........and if ya dont have a dog the idea of using a treble hook is a great one ive done it many times to retrieve ducks I'll just carry a rod that can be broke down and carry it in a pack

A comment titled: Quality deer??? in response to a report titled: Quality Deer

Here we go again I usually would just keep my mouth shut on this one but I cant this time Let me ask you this NC_PSE how big are the tracts of land you are hunting? how man people are hunting these tracts? how many support the qdma program on and around these tracts? have you lived in this state your entire life?......Now consider this many hunters in this state hunt on small acreage leases because frankly its too hard too find a larger tract of land that is affordable or not already leased up by others or landowners that will not allow hunting consider the time they have to hunt consider the amount of accidents caused by deer the overpopulation inside many city limits....

    Is QDM For You?

Quality deer management is not a panacea and many things should be considered before implementing QDM practices on your hunting land. If you answer yes to the following questions, QDM may be right for you.

Do you have enough acreage to manage your deer population without being severely affected by hunting pressure on adjacent properties? If not, will your neighbors join you and possibly others in forming a QDM cooperative?
Is the habitat on your hunting property adequate to produce and maintain a healthy deer herd? If not, do you and your hunting companions have the funds, equipment, and commitment to manage and improve the habitat?
Do the deer-hunting regulations in your state allow enough flexibility to manage your herd?
Does your state wildlife agency encourage and assist landowners with management and allow adequate doe harvests?
Are you and your hunting companions prepared to commit to a long-term (often five or more years) management program?
Do you and your hunting companions understand the financial, time, and energy commitments and have realistic expectations regarding a QDM program?
