In the fall of 2015 we bought a small farm in Harnett County. My family and friends were pumped for the upcoming duck season since a portion of the property included the Black River and acres of flooded timber. I wasn't sure how the deer hunting would be with so much swamp, but I devoted a about 5 acres of the pasture this year to soy beans (for the deer) and brown top millet (for the ducks). On 10/25/2016, my 2.5 year old daughter and I sat in the blind until she couldn't sit anymore. (Only about 20 minutes) About 20 minutes before dark we were back in the house. I checked the trail cam the next afternoon (10/26) and just 10 minutes after we had left the evening before, a nice main frame 10 was eating some beans. I couldn't convince my daughter to go 'pow pow deer' with me again this evening, so I went myself. Just as shooting light was running out, the same buck from the night before, jumped the fence and stood broadside. Needless to say my daughter was excited when the whole family went to recover the buck. He turned out to be a 10 with a kicker and main beams that almost touched.
