Waiting for the rain to let up, I climbed in the stand around 4:30 saturday, October 10th. I had only hunted this set a couple of times not wanting to bust the big 10 out of there. He started showing up on camera in July and was steady in daylight all summer. Mid September he took a 2 week leave only to show up on camera at another location I hunt 3 miles away. I hunted him first there and never had an encounter. I was pretty worried when he hadnt shown up at either location in over a week. So when I went out Saturday I was cautiously optimistic about seeing him. The rain let off about 4:45 and 10 minutes later he crossed the creek. I noticed his anterls first as he moved through the brush. Once he was out of my line of sight and I was out of his, I reached for my Matthews Creed and stood up. I came to full draw not knowing where he would emerge from cover. He stepped out after a minute or so at 25 yards. He took one step, looked right at me and locked up. I put my pin on his lung and sent a Muzzy MX2 flying. He went about 15 yards before dropping in the creek. My best Buck to date. Orange County main frame 10 , three 1.5' stickers. Gross 145.
