  • Planting natural food for waterfowl

Hey guys/gals! I currently have access to a 40 acre pond of mostly 1-2 ft of water. About 10 acres of the pond is open water with small islands of fragmites. It is brackish water and I just began to duck hunt in it, for the upcoming 2015-2016 waterfowl season I am looking to plant a natural food for waterfowl that does not require draining the pond. I have been looking into widgeon grass and mainly have the idea of how to transfer it from another pond to my pond! The only issue is that I don't know how much widgeon grass I need to collect to put in this 40 acre pond and if it will spread and I'm not sure of what time of year I should do this. If you guys know anything about planting natural food for waterfowl, please let me know how to plant it and get these ponds full of ducks! I would just hunt it 1-2 times a month! Thanks so much.
    Sincerely,
