My 11 yr old daughter, Josie Standridge, decided in the fall of 2013 that she wanted to harvest a deer. She helped me all year with building and moving stands, keeping bait piles full, checking and maintaining cameras, and mostly being a great hunting companion. She put in the rifle time at the range, and the butt time in the stand, we had several opportunities to take her first whitetail, but we always seemed to just fall short. finally she got the job done, shooting a doe in late november. I know this is bag a buck, not bag a doe, shes proud, but not as proud as I am of her being willing to do the work it took to succeed in her quest. A great lesson she can carry through life. Even after the kill she continued to want to do the work by dragging it to the truck all by herself.
