  • Need extra insulation in stand seat

Sitting in a climber compressed whatever insulation you are wearing or sitting on, which ends up being not very insulating, ironically. Have any of you added something to your climber seat to help keep your bum warm? Foam or otherwise?

    Hey Hawkman
I use a summit Viper climber that has a pretty thick foam seat. It's the surround seat which also has hand warmer pockets built into it. 2 on the side and one in the back for your kidney area. I have never used them for that and have never had a cold butt either. I use thin layers with under armor base clothes then military grade thermals, quilted insulated pants with a fleece pull-over top and then my scent-loc bow hunting camo. And this is only on the coldest of cold days. I stay pretty warm, even on all day sits!

    Good luck this year!

    thx, vipr
    Viper,

Thanks. Admittedly, I can do a better job of getting the right base layers. I'm all for less bulk, but more warmth if I can get it.

LOL 1 hunternnc. Hawkman, I bought my thermals at Dick's Sporting Goods a few years ago. I think they were like 35.00 for top or bottom. Money well spent.

    Seat
Like Viper, My 180ss has the Surround Seat and I doubt very seriously there is a more comfortable seat in the woods...You can feel that its made with the closed cell Egg Crate Foam and I sprayed mine with a whole Can of Snow Seal water proof Spray (Not all at once of course, Just coat after Coat once Dry) I'll warn ya though, The seat will COOK!! ya during the warm Days and for that reason I bought a separate Regular Summit Seat. I recently Bought (Then Sold!!) the so called Most comfortable stand out there which was a Lone Wolf Sit&Climb and I tell ya...The Guys using them must be teenage Muscle bound beefcakes because it did not compare to the comfort of my Summit!!!! Whatever you decide, Remember to Buckle up and stay safe!!!

    Surround Seat
As you can see and GT stated....these seats will cook you in early season. I have a second Viper Climber with the regular seat but it's on lone. I know Hawkman was talking about staying warm. Right now I thinking of freezing some bags of ice and putting in the pockets for Bow Season...lol! Unless I can get GT to invent something better...Gobblintom is the go-to- staff inventor for this page for anyone that doesn't know by now! Good luck GT......we have a fan up there watching!
