Chris Warren with Big Country Outdoors has been trapping in the Sumter County area, and has been having success with beavers, coyotes, raccoons, and bobcats.

Trapping is not the most popular outdoor adventure in South Carolina, and some sportsmen don't even know an open season exists for it. It lasts about a month each year, and participants must have the proper permit to trap. The permits are available from the SCDNR.

Trapping helps cut down the number of predators which help keep populations of wild game like deer and quail from being diminished.
