The SCDNR is looking for folks interested in becoming Certified DNR Fishing Instructors with the Family Fishing Clinics Program. Once certified, these volunteers will teach the basics of fishing to a diverse group of people.

Volunteers must agree to attend a training session and submit to a SLED background check and driving record check.

The goal of this program is to help people with little or no angling experience to become proficient at the sport, and it gives them some hands on training such as tying basic knots, rigging a rod and reel, and casting.

The next training session for the program is January 25 in West Columbia from 1-5 p.m. Anyone interested can register here: http://www.dnr.sc.gov/aquaticed/instructor/
