  • Bull Reds in Charleston

The bull redfish are biting inshore in the Charleston area, and Capt. Addison Rupert and his clients are catching them two at a time on cut bait, including blue crabs cut into quarters and cut mullet.

Rupert has been fishing all over the Wando River, the jetties, in the harbor, and out of IOP Marina, and has been finding the bull reds in all these spots and more.

Slot-sized reds are also biting well, so anglers looking for a meal are also finding something for the frying pan.

The incoming tide is working well, especially when it occurs during early morning or late evening, and the outgoing tide also has a decent bite. The slack tide is the slowest period of the day, but Rupert is still finding some fish but practices a little more patience during these hours. Docks, bridges, and grasslines are good places to concentrate on.
