  • 10-ft Gator Killed at Low Falls

It took all day and half the night, but Bishopville's Anthony Messier finally bagged a gator worthy of the pursuit last week. Guided by Brad Taylor of Taylor Outdoors Guide Service, Messier tussled the 10' 1' gator into submission.

Messier initially shot the gator with a crossbow, then put two harpoons in it, finally subduing it with a single 9 mm shot to the head around 2:30 a.m. in the Low Falls Landing area where the Congaree River empties into Santee Cooper. 'We began hunting at 6:30 a.m. the previous morning, so it was a long but successful hunt,' Messier said.
