Well I feel like I learned quite a bit in this process. Like when the bluing kit says 'don't short cut the preparation process or you'll regret it later' is NOT an exaggeration. LOL
When I first tried this it did not turn out very well. So I started over, and spent extra time sanding every little nook & cranny and then tried bluing it again.
The pics show how it turned out and how it looks after I put it back together. And best of all, when I test shot it all of the pellets went out the correct end of the barrel. LOL
My only regret is that I did not take pics before I started cuz this Featherlite was rusty and probably not worth $50 w/ the way it looked.
It ain't perfect but the ol' Ithica Deerslayer is in much better shape than it was.

Thanx D! Gave it back to my father-in-law and he really liked it. It was a good learning experience and best thing was I got to do it on somebody else's gun first. lol

Looks Great, My Uncle had the same Gun with the slug barrel and rifle sights...That thing was dead-huts with slugs out to 100 yards but It was stolen during a break in...Broke his Heart but he has since passed on as well.

Thanx GT! This slug barrel has the rifled sights but the front sight is faded somewhat. It's not fiber-optic but sort of an opaque orange. You can still see it but I thought it would look better if it was 'brighter' so I called Ithica about getting a replacement. That piece is approx 1/2 inch long by 1/8 of an inch wide (in a triangular shape) and after they told me it would be $20 for the piece and S/H, well I decided that it looked OK like it was. lol

    Nice job
Nice Job. I have an old Winchester model 37 single shot 12 ga. that was my Grandfathers. I have many times thought about restoring it but, I can't help to think that part of the sweat that rusted it up was his!
