  • Broad River Smallmouth Fishing

Broad River smallmouth anglers are having no trouble catching their intended targets lately, and the bronzebacks aren't at all picky about what they are biting. Mike McSwain of Broad River Smallmouth Guide Service (843-763-3805) said everything is fair game right now, with inline spinners making up a big part of his arsenal. 'Spinners like Mepps Aglias or Worden's Roostertails always work well on this river, but buzzbaits, Rat L Traps, and soft plastics are working just as well right now,' he said. Rebel Pop R lures and Chug Bugs are also catching fish, especially in the Harbison State Forest and Alston areas.

Canoes and kayaks are good craft to navigate the rocky waters of this river with, but plenty of anglers are catching smallmouth on foot, and one of the best places to do that is Columbia's Riverwalk.
