I don't know which one is the absolute best but the shots I have taken have either been broadside or through the backbone as he was facing away from me. If he's broadside, I go straight up from the legs and straight across from the beard. Where that intersects is where you want to hit. If he's facing you, you want to aim just above the beard. And like you said, if he's facing away from you strutting, shoot him at the base of the tail feathers. Any of those shots will tear 'em up. Good luck!
