  • Santee Stripers

The striper fishing at Santee usually heats up in May, but it has started a little early this year. Perry Holloway of Sumter has taken his kids out striper fishing several times in the past few weeks, and they are having success both fishing on the bottom and using surface lures like Striper Swipers and large Chug Bugs.

The stripers have been biting throughout the day in moving water, especially when using cut bait on the bottom. Early morning and late evening hours have been best for stripers in the flats, but on cooler days, the hot bite seems to last longer.
