My friend Donion don't know this, but when he ask me to come up for a few days and turkey hunt I was smiling from ear to ear,I was so excited. I was able to kill what I feel is the bird of a lifetime. To me this is a trophy bird. 24lbs,1 1/8 inch spurs and he had a 10 1/2 inch double beard. Both beards the same length. I was also able to make a shot on this bird that I would normally question, but after last year I was afraid to hesitate when I saw GT had his gun up,lol. As soon as I had a clear shot I fired and it was gobbler down.I may be biased towards the spursuader, but when GT works that call its like a love song to those lovesick gobblers.I found myself just watching in disbelief at the sounds he could make with that call. The spursuader is a great call, but GT is really good at turkey calling.I walked with Donion and GT for what seemed like 25 miles, lol, but I know it wasnt that far,Don was great at putting us on the turkey. It was worth every step to get this great bird.My bird was pretty heavy and these guys took turns carrying my bird out for me. I am so thankful for these guys including me on this adventure.I sure hope to be invited back again, but if not, this is still a turkey season I will never forget.

    GT at Dons
I think GT just goes hog wild at Dons, running turkey barefoot and shootin freehanded. Sometimes I just thinks he points his gun and hits the spursuader a couple times and the turkey just come running.

    mount
I wish I had of had the funds to do a full body mount,in hindsight I should have just ebayed some things to do it.But I did a full cape mount with wings. I guess I will always regret not doing the full body mount because I know it really was the bird of a lifetime. Mount or no mount I will never forget it,or the friends who made it possible.

    TROPHY!!!!!!!
Glad I was a part of it and Your Welcome Girl...I've never seen someone go from the Lowest low to the Highest High in a short few Hours as you did on this hunt lol...I Would have loved to had that double and think we could have if I hadn't set-up like I did but the main Focus at that point was to get you a gobbler and man, What a Gobbler he was!!!! BTW, Start warning me when your snapping Photos of my Butt so I can at least strike a pose or Something lol..CONGRATS!!! Again!!!! I have been on some AWESOME Turkey hunts in my time but your Bird when I rolled him over will forever be etched in my mind...Absolutely unbelievable!!

    Double beard
That is a great one. I killed one almost identical to that one in Stanly county 2007. On the ride home my wife talked me into having it mounted. I am glad I did, although that meant no turkey sandwiches.... I read somewhere that 1 in 50 mature toms has mulitple beards with even a smaller precentage having two or more with good length. Out of all my friends and fellow hunters I know, no one else has killed one and I myself never gave thought to it until I did. My bird was 24lbs one 12 inch beard and the 10 inches with 1 1/2 inch spurs. Congratulations!

Congratulations. You've proven that you are a force to be reckoned with in the outdoors! I bet Murphy was crying....lol! So Happy for you.

Nothing on my end yet but I had a great 500 yard stalk and got within 50 yards with a big Tom following a hen right to me and 5 deer busted up the party and scared them away!

    Double Beard
I will try and upload the pic soon. Avery Taxidermy did mine, he did a great job. FYI he also did the seven beard state record killed in edgecombe back in 2008 I think . He told me, at the time, not to tell anyone he had it at his house. He was afraid someone would break in and steal it. Mine was hanging on the wall waiting for me to pick it up and the guy said he wanted his mounted just like mine!
