  • Got my DIY JackPlate made for my Jon Boat

After a ICE bag got hung around the foot of my motor last year in the yadkin River and caused it to over-heat, I had to replace the motor because I checked around and it seemed cheaper to find another motor than to re-Build so I found a Good Deal on a Newer Electric Start Johnson but It was a 20 inch long Shaft and my 2006 Alumacraft requires a Short Shaft so I started looking for options and after pricing a few jack-plates I decided I would just Build my own. I bought 4 pieces of 1/4 x 2x2x12 for $4 and $12 worth of Stainless Steel Bolts and a few hours I had it!!! Can't wait to try her out!! For those of you wondering why a 20 inch Shaft wouldn't work on a 16 inch transom...It would, BUT you would get alot of Drag and splash causing your Motor to work harder for nothing...I designed mine with 3 inches of adjustment to get it right where I want it....The idea is to have the cavitation Plate even or -/+ a inch with the bottom of the boat o the best performance. Just need to lift Motor back off and sand the Aluminum and paint olive drab Green to kill the shine and to match the rest of my Boat...Total Job was about $20

I bet boat will perform better and probably run a bit faster. Very ingenious design. Looks solid, also! Now you have more gas money by making it yourself. Nice! Good luck and keep up the inventions! ;)

Lol Moonwalking decoys...That new MOJO is neat but I instantly seen a few things that would improve it...For 1...It sits on a floating Disk that looks like a 20lb bar-Bell weight but I would have designed it with a small indention to hold a little water around the decoy instead of making it look like it was landing on a Frisbee lol...I told my buddy that the next time I would also bring a big paper clip to clip to 1 of the wings to knock it off balance and that would create more vibration and that would make more ripples....Oh yeah...Dang it was Cold today lol
