I noticed no one had posted about trapping! I have a little experience from mentor Katie Watson, on racoon, fox, muskrat, and unfortunately skunk!
My friend told me of a free class on trapping in October in Surry county. He decided to attend and turns out he learned quite a bit. I was so into deer hunting I didn't go. Wish now I had. But, I can live vicariously through him! Here are a few pics of some of his catches! He so far has gotten coyote, red and grey fox, bobcat, raccoon, and of all things otter! He loves it and can't wait to get back to his traps daily to see what is next!

    Nice!
I knew there were people who trapped! So figured I would get the ball rolling!
I was bass fishing the hot hole at blues creek one night and we were catching so many bass. My friend got excited and trying to get buzz bait back out. Whopped me on top of the head! Another boat was more toward the main lake, and heard something swimming that sounded like a person. We heard them say what is that? Then we heard it! A couple minutes later right beside our boat came a Beaver that was as big as me! It scared me, I thought it was the lochness monster! It's head was bigger than a basketball! And looked at least 4 or 5 feet long!

You can tell by trees on bank
If there are a bunch every tree will be gnawed! Or felled! Good luck! Very interested in your results! Do you know what they are paying for Beaver? Not much I would guess! In the eighties you could make vacation money on fox hides. But, market went down. Maybe, it is on way back up! Bud said bobcat were bout a 100$. Don't know. I am asking you. ?

Prices will vary strongly based on what you are attempting to sell. All animals are WAY off from 2-3 years ago; yet some what consistent with last year....Check out North Carolina Trapshed Talk...They have a forum also and can steer ya in the right direction...Trapping is alot of FUN!!! I usually Video the catch and will edit it all together because some people get offended if everything isn't sugar Coated if you know what I mean but they don't understand that trapping is an integral component of wildlife conservation and it controls abundant wildlife, removes nuisance animals, aids in restoring native species, and protects habitat, property ETC...I have seen Beavers all but destroy what once was a quiet stream...Them suckers will work!!!!!...Every time we catch a Raccoon I think about all the baby turkeys we possible just saved lol...Guy we deal with made $4K last year on hides!!!

Thanks for the info! And by the way as soon as these pics were taken by his son! He put these animals out of their misery. Maybe this is why no one had posted any trapping pic or posts. I certainly didn't intend to shed a bad light on trapping. Because,it has been around as long as man! And should be forever! When I used to go with Katie Watson to check traps, we would slip up and peek to see if there was a skunk in the trap. If there was and it saw you it may spray. Being trapped was stressful enough. She had a tube fed nylint 22. And would shoot it before it sprayed. Then we would drain the pee into a jar. I will never forget the smell, it is different than what you smell as you drive by a road killed one. She would put it in a spray bottle and use it on a drag walking to stand to deer hunt. She also sprayed on her traps for cover scent. I made the mistake of spraying it on my boot one time and had to endure it while on stand! lol
