A trail camera picture of this buck was taken in August about a mile from where I harvested him. In the trail camera picture he was with a 10 point. With evidence of two mature white tails in the area there was no lack of motovation. All four sides of this track of propety is surrounded by roads. On November 5, I setup on a small field on the opposite side of the property from where the trail camera picture was taken. My strategy was that with the rut on, that the two bucks have seperated and maybe one moved my way. I climbed into an old wood stand that bordered a field with peas, a pine thicket and a large area of scrub oaks. I put out scent, hit the doe call. The buck came out of the scrub oaks about five minutes before dark to my left so I had to shoot him right handed at about 25 yards. I have also harvested two more 8 points and a 7 point this year. I also had a productive year last year. The guys at work think I have a secret ingredient. There is no secret I give the credit to scent control by using my McKenzie ScentFan Duffle bag. This bag allows me to introduce what scent I want into my hunting clothes and boots and also filters out the unwanted scent. The bag cost about $80.00 online and is worth it. You can plug it into my truck or house. It has paid off for me. Looking forward to many more sucessful hunts.
