  • Sparkleberry Swamp Hog Hunting

As Hurrican Sandy pounded the northeastern states, it also brought high winds and a lake wind advisory to much of South Carolina, so it was no surprise to Sumter outdoorsmen Chris Warren and Mikey Colboth that they were the only boat at Pack's Landing on the morning of Oct. 30th. Luckily, the two weren't planning a fishing trip. Instead, they were hunting hogs in the Sparkleberry Swamp area.

Unsure of how the weather would play into their plans, the hunters were pleasantly surprised when their dogs bayed the first hog within the first hour of their hunt. After dispatching the 85-pound sow, the dogs bayed another hog about 30 minutes later. This one--a 100-pound sow--put quickly became another subject for a pig picking.
