I assume that most hunters want to allow gun hunting on sundays. Maybe Im wrong? just wondering whats the hold up on this passing in NC statewide. Ive been doing it for many years in NY. Its a good thing!!

    Sunday gun hunting
I 'assume' it depends who takes the surveys. About five years ago it was said that most were not in favor of sunday hunting period. I never saw or participated in any survey regarding the issue but did write our fine representatives and voiced my support for it. Then there are others who protest it for religious reasons, concerns about church attendance declining during hunting season and worries about dog hunters hunting in rural areas around said churches. I lived and hunted in GA for 35+ years and to my recollection I never heard of any incidents regarding safety concerns on Sunday. Maybe with this election cycle enough people will get out and vote and elect representatives that will listen to their constituents....As for me, I'm voting for hope and change....yessir, I hope Romney gets elected and changes the direction this country is headed in..BTW, Ya'll need to research Hillary Clinton's UN gun ban proposal, you'll figure it out quickly...
sorry about rambling on, but you got me started. Maybe change will come and we can enjoy to do the things we enjoy whenever we so choose.

    Sunday Hunting
Jager....IMO Sunday hunting will never happen in NC because of 2 things, Church and Dog Hunters. It seems the the surveys go out to the general public and in the South and in NC there are a lot of church goers as I am but, they side against it. I don't. When I tell people I deer hunt in the general public....they always ask, 'why do you guys hunt from the road', which I quickly respond, 'that's dog hunters. I don't dog hunt I still hunt which brings another question, 'what's still hunting'. Once I describe it to them they usually say well that's not to bad why don't those other guys hunt like that.

Bottom line there are people that like and dislike hunting and if folks never saw you hunting.....they wouldn't know there was any hunting going on. The best way to protect this sport is not to put it into the public's face, i.e. parading deer around on the top of your truck and not having it sound like a war zone.

Just my 2 cents but, I have hunted out west where everyday is a hunt day!

I Think Sunday Huntng Is Fine. I Cant Say One Way Or The Other Because I Hunt Only On Gameland And I Cant Hunt on Sunday Bow Or Gun. Even Though it's Bow Only on Sundays Now. (Dont Forget, Blaze Orange is Required on Sundays even With Bow i still hear people all the time shooting Rifles in the am and evening. Im Neutrel on this because i cant hunt on Sundays.

I would rather be Hunting and Thinking about GOD than Sitting in his House and Thinking about Hunting!!!I'm for it but that's just me...People are going to find something wrong with what everyone else does anyway. Just like I know several People that have sat in church talking about don't do this and that and don't Gamble then leave the Church and Drive to Virginia to play the Lottery every Sunday so now that they don't have to go to Virginia to gamble..They find something else to harp on!!...It's Human Nature!!...In My opinion (And we know what My opinons are thought of on here lol) It's only a few extra Days a year and I like to think when I'm hunting in a Tree Stand that I'm 25 foot closer to GOD anyway

Yes to gun hunting on Sunday. Why not? Everything else these days is ok. @ 1hunternc, I agree get them out of office, @ Viper, I agree people, get the deer off the top of the truck. Duh, lets think about ethical hunting.

    LIKE BUTTON...lol.
Im usually 18 to 20ft closer to the Lord on some Sundays, I can't get no higher, I don't think my trees would hold me....lol.

Like Viper said about the Church and dogs, I could only imagine what would be said to the ones that run a deer by a church, following them in there 4wd and then BANG BANG BANG...would probabley get something started.

Allow Hunting on Sundays with gun and No dog hunting allowed on Sundays is what the book should say next year.

GT well said man about hunting and thinking of God, I would have to like that one too.

I remember as a kid I wasn't allowed to shoot my gun on Sundays. I couldn't wait til Monday rolled around!

I'd like to gun hunt on Sunday but I understand other folks not wanting the dogs and the 4x4 trucks running down the road.
I think GT's church comment is dead on.

    nope
Personally, I'd rather that no hunting be allowed on Sunday, period. (Bow,muzzle, rifle or otherwise). I'd rather spend my time with family, in church, away from work. The Bible speaks of God resting, giving us a day to rest, and speaks of even us giving land a year of rest after so many years of farming it. I think wildlife needs the rest as well. As for work, my father-in-law always said: 'If you can't make it in six days, you won't make it in seven'.

Now, I understand that some people work 6 or 7 days a week, and sometimes the only day available is Sunday. Maybe you don't have family to be with. Maybe you don't believe what the Bible says, or interpret it differently than I do. And I understand, completely. I'm not judging. I'm just stating where I stand on it - for myself. Hey, I grew up in a home where we didn't even go to a store or restaurant on Sunday!

I like to be able to take my kids out on the farm on Sundays to look around. I'd feel that it was off-limits 7 days/week if there were hunters on it.

If it were allowed, I might be tempted to go out as well, leaving my wife with the little ones yet another day!

Hawkman, I see no problem whatsoever with it myself especially Bowhunting...I have a friend like you stated that works 10 hours a day Six days a week and it's Dark when he goes to work and when he arrives home and he LOVES to hunt!! A Bow is a Challenge so why not give such people a chance to at least enjoy thier passion also. Deer need a rest??? The season is Not year long and we are only really talking about 9 to 12 extra days (Sundays) a year to Gun hunt...I assure you that if those few days of Boom time are going to bother people, I can only imagine what they are thinking of Us the rest of the Season. Miranda Lambert has a Song with Lyrics ' I heard Jesus, He drank wine and I bet we'd get along just fine....' Well....Maybe the almighty likes to Hunt also? To each thier own is all I'm trying to say but I don't think Firearm season will ever be legal for hunting in my time...Good Luck to ya

    yes yes yes
it should be legal and to honest some folks already do it. i only bow hunt on Sundays. but often i hear gunshots @ dawn and dusk. i'd rather be in a tree than sitting on the couch drinking beer and watching football. if god meant for you to rest and relax on Sundays then please tell me whats more relaxing than 30 ft up a tree. it's a time to reflect on life and brings you closer to nature. if you have a family then get them involved in hunting. that's whats wrong with people today. i think if you teach kids about gun safety and respect for others and our great outdoors then you wouldn't have all the shootings. if i had kids i would much rather have them in the woods than sitting in front of t.v. playing ps3 shooting up everything insight. guns are not toys. so i say yes. plus some folks don't have the time to hunt so Sundays would let them work and hunt........
