I recently bought a bow and practiced a little bit. After a couple of nice groups I decided it was time to hit the woods. I had not been in the stand very long when a spike and a four pointer come up the ridge and helped themselves to some corn. Even though I knew I was not going to shoot at either one of these deer it still got my blood pumping to say the least. Soon after they mosied away a couple of nice size does came to get thier fill of some good ol' corn on the cob. My blood was pumping by now as I could already taste those backstraps and smell the jerky!! At 18 yards Im thinking this is not even fair, I draw back, squeeze my release and totally missed, I mean I shot 10 inches over her back. I played it over in my mind and came to realize I had put the wrong pin on her. I have hunted with blackpowder and rifle and have NEVER missed a deer, guess there is a first time for everything!! Lesson learned: I love bow hunting!!!!

    Missing
It happens to all of us man...The best archers in the world will miss at some point...It is a completely different ball game when you are staring down on a live animal. In the heat of the moment, it is easier to do what you did than you think. Just think of all the variables you have running thru your mind while your shot is unfolding....When to draw, shot angle, windage, etc....Then you have to worry about aiming and executing the shot....IT is tuff man. I actually recently switched back to a single pin sight b/c my pins were so close together...Anyway, keep your head up and get back out there...You will get the next one...
