I had another fun night at a local 3D shoot. This was just my second one and unfortunately the last one until Decemeber I guess.Maybe by then I can get a lot of practice in.Although I do now have confidence that I could take a deer down if I'm patient.I really wouldn't have gotten involved with all this if it hadn't been for a good friend and poster Seaduck.Goes to show when you take the time to pass on what you know it can make a big difference to others.
Hope everyone has a good deer season, looking forward to seeing all the pics .

Good Luck to you also but I'll warn ya...When that First encounter happens and that Deer is sooo Close, That's when the adrenaline will take over and I remember My first Deer that came into Bow range lol... I thought someone had Glued my Cams to my Limbs because I was trying with everything I had and I just couldn't get that Bow drawn...Deer wanders off and I jerk it back with no problem lol...But you will learn all this in time as well...I still get tore up when a deer strolls into view and I guess if I didn't...I would wonder why I even Hunt lol...I don't get tore up these days as bad as I used to but they still rattle me...Now when a Turkey is getting louder with every Gobble....Well...That's a Completely different scenario!!!...Good Luck

Guess all anyone can do is give it their best shot.I'm sure I will be plenty excited if I do get a good shot at a deer, but thats all part of it.I hope you have a lot of success this season. If I don't get a deer I may have to fill the freezer with fish,at least I know where the fish are at,LOL.Now I have a bigger boat so I can have room to catch twice as many.
I am seriously thinking about that recurve bow,I have a Birthday coming up and I think thats on my list, actually the only thing on my list, lol.I'm thinking its a challenge I want to try, lol.I'll let you know when to get your apple polished up,j/k.

    Traditional archery
LOL, I'll get the apple polished up anyway...You might catch on pretty fast lol...I think you would really like that style of archery also...I did what time I did it but I had a real old Left handed Bear Kodiak Magnum and after I seen what they were bringing on ebay...Well....I don't have that Bow anymore lol

    3D shoot
That sounds awesome D!! I have never participated in one but I am sure it would be fun...I shot like crap in front of Viper the other day so I probably wouldn't do well with a crowd.... plus 60 yards was a little out of my comfort zone but I was trying to get my HHA site setup. I am use to shooting with Me and Mr. Glendale but I would definitely love to try it.. I have always wanted to shoot at the DDC..Maybe one year I will give it a shot.

    You'll be fine!
You'll be fine.....I remeber my first. It was a doe and I drilled her....rib cage, heart, through the chest and the front leg. Heck I was the man......until the second one. The first one spoiled me and I thought this bow hunting was easy. After several you settle down and wait them out, watch some walk by at 20 yards! Nothing worse than making a bad hit and can't find the deer. All in stride and what a great stride it is. You'll be fine.....just never over think it! And above all practice, practice, practice!

Be prepaired....you will lose some, that's just the way it is. Those are the nites I'm out in the bush late and get that sick feeling. That's all part of the learning curve. Ask GT.....great shot on 'SKY', 2 hour recovery....thought I would die until Creek07 hollered......over here!

You are doing everything right....3-D shoot....bet all those targets weren't facing the same way or in the same postion each time....just like the real thing!

Thanks for the encouragement.I think I am more excited about discovering I love archery more than anything.I plan on trying to get a deer ,and I'd be proud if I only got a doe with my bow,but if I don't thats ok,this won't be the only deer season I will be hunting,I hope, lol.
I have felt like a kid with the greatest toy ever the past few weeks while shooting my bow, lol.
And yes I know it's not a toy,but it is fun.

    Fun
Yes it is fun....One other thing and I'm sure others would agree. In the moment, on your first hunt with bow in hand, (or on bow hook), When the first one comes out......just watch it. This will give you time to settle down, ( because your heart will be pounding out if your chest), and know when to get your bow, when she or he doesn't know your there. They always come out on alert but settle down!

Diane you will be fine when that 1st opportunity presents itself. You have nerves of steel when you shoot. Just don't fall out of the tree after the shot when that rush hits.LOL
