    Hey Guys,

Long time no talk, been busy getting supplies and new stuff ready for the upcoming season. I do have one question though, where should I take my deer to be processed? I leave near Falls Lake.

Not familiar with that area Nc F&H...It's Not hard to Do it yourself? Stay with the Grain and you will be Fine...You can also watch Youtube videos of different methods...I have paid myself but you can quarter a deer up in a matter of minutes and Chill it a few days before you cut it up...Cheaper than paying $65 which is what I pay when I'm in a hurry and have 1 processed. Everyone has a different technique it seems.

I have my steaks Cubed and My Loins sliced and Burger everything else that wont make a Steak...We eat it in Spaghetti, Lasagna, Sloppy Joes,Plain Deer Burgers ETC.....I keep a Few Hams for Christmas because I have a Buddy at a BBQ Restaurant and he smokes them for me and SON!!!!!! The price is $45 Cut and Packed but I usually get 10 to 20 Lbs of Sausage and some Jerky as well, And that runs the price up a little to around $60 to $65 because of the sage, Pork Fat added ETC...Speaking of jerky, I think I'll get some out of the freezer right now lol..It's so Good!!!

Basically $65 will get ya the whole deer anyway you want it...I take a Whole Doe and have her made into Burger minus the Loins each year...Alot cheaper than buying it and Much better for ya!!! He does taxidermy as well. And I have never heard any complaints

NC I gotta tell ya, the older I get, now 52, the smarter I get. For about $80-$100 he does it all, skins it, processes it. the first couple I have cube steaks and deer burger,(i have extra fat added keeps it from being too dry.) yes, for $15 someone else can skin it.lol...usually $100 for a large deer. when I get plenty of burger in the freezer, then I will have link and summer sausage made. If I want backstraps or meat for stew, then I will do it myself. me I aint got time, so i say, to fool with all that $*%+ when someone else will do it.lololol
speaking of backstrap, can't wait to do the boogey

    Great Butcher
I have 3 friends that were taking their deer to a place in Louisburg (not sure if it is the same place the other guys are talking about) until I told them about this guy in Henderson. His name is Mike and he has been a grocery store butcher for 25 years (he says). He doesn't gut and skin - he wants you to bring the deer quartered, on ice in a cooler. Personally I think the meat is better if you get the guts out asap to allow the meat to cool down quick as possible. Anyway his base price is $35 - that is for all the normal cuts like roast, cube steak, burger, stew meat, and steaks. Add $2 for breakfast sausage. Add $15 and he'll mix 20lbs of jerky for you to cook - for $30 or $35 he already has it cooked for you. The most expensive thing that I know he does is (20 or 30 pounds I can't remember) summer sausage and it is $65 ($35 base price plus $30 for the seasoning and smoking it). The summer sausage is absolutely awesome and ready to eat when you get it. He'll do any kinda cut you want even bologna - his is wrapped just like a grocery store, in trays with cling wrap.
He's close to an hour ride for me so I generally take him 2 or 3 deer at a time. He generally has it ready for you in 2 or 3 days and he gets you every ounce of meat possible. He is a really nice guy, operates out of his house, and he also enjoys hunting. Don't tell him I said this but he also has a handicapped child (in a wheelchair) so I really think that this helps him out financially.
    This is his info:
Deer and wild game processing. You skin and gut,I'll process, hamburger, sausage, cube steak, and much more. call Mike at 252-431-1260 or 252-767-3296.
Anyway I've been totally screwed by a place in Hurdle Mills before but this guy is solid. I have sent about 20 people/friends to this guy and not one complaint from anyone.
