Anyone had an Octane Hostage arrow rest? Did you like it?
I've been considering one of these hostage rests - I've read that it does not have the arrow drag that the whisker biscuit has but wanted to see if anyone else has (or had) one and what was your opinion of it. thanx

    Rest
Hey Justin, Had to get up at Midnight to win my daughter some Skeleton Creek Books off Ebay lol...Anyway...I had this rest on my Bowtech Tribute for a while and it's a great quiet rest BUT the bottom brushes do wear extremely Fast!! I'm gonna say around 200 shots but as you know, 200 shots come quick...Also which are you looking at? The Hostage which runs about $40 or the Hostage Pro which is twice that??? Or Did..Maybe a little less Now But Either way, when I shot mine the replacement brushes were about $10 but I had to replace the Bottom Brush 3 times compared to the other 2 side Brushes. I eventually went back to my G5 Drop away..BTW, Don't shoot Left handed do ya? I have a New G5 Drop away in there somewhere I would give ya... New Archery Products (NAP) makes a Rest called the NAP 360 that is very similar to the Hostage and Cost about $25 to $35 if you wanted to check it out, Plus it's Camo...I will say this..BE CAREFUL!! I shot axis arrows when it was a New Bow and once the brushes wore on my Hostage, The arrow would fall between the brushes and that could get ugly, if you didn't notice it...Like my Pal bearice, I used to be a 'Have to have it!!' kinda guy when it came to my Bow but really enjoyed it more when I started just keeping it Simple!!! Heck it got to where I was doing more Bow tinkering than Hunting lol...In other words, If you have a Whisker Biscuit that loads from the side...Even losing a few FPS because of Bristle Drag...Your probably better off In my Opinion if all your after is to let the air out of a Whitetail.

    Arrow Rest
If I've said it once, I'll say it 1000 times....the only thing you want your arrow touching at the time of release is your string!!!

Like GT said brushes wear down but, worse....the are on contact with your arrow shaft until the nok passes them....(not good). There are many drop aways with the capture system. Look for one of those you will be more than happy. I myself still use a drop away with no capture and have never had a problem.

    Rest
I have never used one but the reviews on them are not good at all. I am sold on drop aways. My first rest was the fuse whisker biscuit which I always liked but I will use drop aways from now on. I have used QAD Ultra Rest HD the last 3 years and I love it...

    thanx
Thanx for the comments/advice guys. I've got a simple fall away on mine - I do get tired of the arrow falling out of place now and again but I can deal w/ it. Mostly I was thinking about getting Huntman either the whisker biscuit or this octane hostage for his bow to try and make things a bit easier for him.
GT - I'm a righty but I appreciate the offer. Kinda wish I was a south paw cuz I've seen some pretty good deals on left hand bows. lol

    Wrong handed
Yeah Justin for Huntman a WB should be fine and if The southpaw Deal you speak of is The Mathews in the Classifieds here...I saw that but that particular Bow had Cam lean problems BAD!! and they fixed it and changed the name to the Switchback that next year...Like I stated in another Post I used to spend alot of time at my Buddies Bow shop and learned a few things lol...I would be all over that Outback if I didn't know better lol...I'm actually right handed but Left eye dominate...I do everything Right handed but Shoot...Even Fish unless I use a Spinning reel AND I use them Left-handed also.

BTW The QAD Rest that DCB spoke off is a Proven Performer
