I have been looking at the crossbows trying to decide on a good one that doesn't cost a fortune, since I just invested in a new gun for deer season.I have really been leaning towards the Parker crossbows.I have a question for you guys, since I'm sure GT is tired of me texting him about guns and bows every 30 minutes, lol. Are the PSE crossbows any good.Any advice would be appreciated,(other than ,'get back in the kitchen').Also some input on a youth bow would be helpful.Gracie's has been asking for a bow for her Birthday,so I found a decent inexspensive bow,(not a crossbow), for her to see if she's gonna like it,if she does I have no problem getting her a better one.I would love to see her get into archery, since shes turning 6 she has time to get really good if she likes it.Who knows, she might give Bearice and Viper a run for their money,LMBO.

I bought a Barnett Wildcat C5 - it was a package deal on Barnett's website w/ scope (4x32 not the red dot), quiver, & 4 bolts for around $400. I like it fine and it shoots true. I think this is a great x-bow for anyone that wants one that doesn't have a whole lot of money to sink into one.
With that said, if I had had the money I would have got one of the x-bows made by 'Tenpoint' or the 'PSE TAC 15'. They are not near as wide as mine - the distance from pulley to pulley is shorter becuz they have more of a parallel limb design. That would be a bit easier to deal with in a climbing stand.
I saw one at Mace Sports that had a gas bottle that cocked and uncocked the string so you didn't have to do anything but place the bolt and pull the trigger - it was $1300.
Good luck Diane - I enjoy my x-bow but to be honest I'd rather shoot my regular bow especially when me and Huntman are just shootin in the yard.
As far as a youth bow for Miss Gracie - I'm not sure what to tell you. I'd let her shoot the one you got her for awhile. I bought Hunter a youth Hoyt from a friend for $50 but he couldn't pull it at its lowest poundage for about a year and a half. It's an awesome bow though (better than mine lol) so I couldn't pass up the deal. If you have anyone near you that has one you might wanna let her see if she can pull it.
BTW - If/when you get a x-bow make for darn sure that when your hand is on the forearm your fingers are lower than the string. lol A friend of mine and I were shootin last year and his fingers were up too high, the string struck him. He dropped the xbow, started doing a dance, and sayin' some not so nice things. lol He said at first he thought he had just lost his fingers - he's fine now but he makes sure of where his fingers are now. lol

I was looking at the tenpoint myself, but man they're pricey.Truthfully I would rather shoot a rifle, but as we were talking at the expo,a bow will get you in the woods earlier, lol.I had a hoyt a couple years ago and wanted to learn to use a bow,but had no one to teach me,so I practically gave it away.So if anyone is willing ,I'd like to learn.Until then I guess I will get a crossbow. Thanks for the input Justin,I'll let you know what I come up with.I'm sure I will have a hundred more questions,LOL.

What is you guys opinion on the ones made for ladies,do they pack enough power to take down a buck?I do like the size and weight of these, but wonder if bigger is better.

Find the one that fits u best all of today's crossbow have all the power u need to ethically kill a deer. bigger/faster in a crossbow usually mean more noise when u pull the trigger.
as long as u treat a crossbow like Ur bow hunting you won't have a thing to worry about. remember deer just don't squat at bow being shoot only.

My Buddy has a 150# Horton and It's a No Frills Crossbow and still gets the Job done. I had a $1500 Tenpoint Package and sold it and Bought the tornado and put the rest in my pocket. I found the Tenpoint package on Ebay for $650 shipped and it had all the Paper work that proved it was a $1500 outfit and I resold it for $800 I think it was and got the tornado and was happier and still had Money to put in my pocket...The TenPoint was very heavy and loud!! The Parker I have will shoot circles around it in my opinion. It's not like a Compound that has to Fit your Frame...A Crossbow is more like a Gun...Just aim and shoot once it's cocked...I'm still leaning toward another Bowtech Compound because I just love that style more...Shop around a little.I hope some others chime in and share their input and maybe help you decide.

D @ those prices you might want to take a look at Barnett's website. You can get a brand new Wildcat for $349 ($399 in camo) w/ quiver, 3 bolts, and red dot.

Not a bad Buy, When I got my new 1, I went with the intention of Getting The 160# enforcer myself but decided on The 175# Tornado because of the machined Riser which the enforcer doesn't have but the enforcer is still a great Crossbow and You would be happy with it.

Justin, Not knocking yours or anybody's Barnett's but Man, They have a reputation for flying apart...When I was shopping I looked at Barnett's and The Girls that had the recent Fire I posted told me straight up that They (Barnett's) Shoot hard and fast BUT will NOT stay together!! Told me they wouldn't even work on them...Said they would Sale me any Crossbow i wanted but If I purchased a Barnett then it would be Mine and to not even bring it back to them...They didn't even want them in the shop??? My Friend has 1 and it's the Buck Commander I believe and so far he hasn't had any issues with his...I would suggest Diane read reviews on the Ones shes interested in.

    no worries
I hadn't heard that before but I've only had mine for about a year and a half. I was reading some consumer reviews on the wildcat and all I saw were complaints about the string and about Barnett's customer service. The customer service thing is an issue because it is nice to be able to speak with a representative of the company (Parker does get great reviews on CS). The string thing I'm not sure becuz ya don't know how that person treated the bow - did they regularly wax the string? You know what I mean but it is an entry level crossbow so I didn't ever expect all the bells & whistles - just wanted to see if I'd like it at all. If I ever find an extra grand (lol) I'd love to have one of the tenpoint xbows.
