The largemouth bite has slowed as the weather has warmed up, but anglers are still catching some quality bass in Lakes Marion and Moultrie.

Soft plastics are doing the job for most anglers, but some fish are still falling for spinnerbaits tossed around cypress trees. The trick, according to Capt. Jimmie Hair, is to stay in the trees. Capt. Hair said anglers should let their soft plastics sit in the shade longer than normal before moving them.

Some anglers are also having success with one of the hottest baits of the year--the soft plastic hollow-bodied topwater frog.
