Why is there no fall season? Just curious. A lot of people I knew from up north harvest toms in spring, hens in fall. Ideas?

    Fall Turkey's
I've heard that there is no Fall season becuase of lacvk of intrest and conflict with deer season. I've also heard because Fish and Game are trying to get the population up in the state.

    Bustin the Flock
We had 1 in selected counties a few years ago but as expected with Corn/Bait on the ground...It was the gobblers that were targeted and over time you know what that would do to our population and I'm sure that's the conflict that Viper speaks of...At our last NWTF banquet there was talk about bringing back a short season in Jan and I was quick to voice my opinion which is...,If Turkeys get accustomed to coming to bait all the way to Jan 1 (The Last day of deer season) I would guess that they would still show up weeks after the baiting quits...In other words, The whole month of Jan. so in my opinion, It's a bad Idea for our Turkey population.

It is a Rush to get close and 'Bust the Flock up' and then set quietly with soft Clucks and Kee Kees and call the Flock back together and I have hunted Turkeys in the Fall but to be honest...without the Strutting and the Gobbling Thunder...It just wasn't the same rush for me and I have never really had a desire to Shoot a hen...Even the Bearded Hens I have killed made me feel a sense of sadness when I tossed their 10/12 pound bodies over my shoulder...Some people Love to Fall turkey hunt but me personally...I'm glad NC doesn't no longer have a fall season.
