  • Lake Russell Bass Fishing Report

Even with the water temperature in the 80s, there is still good bass fishing shallow and deep on Lake Russell.

From first light till ten o’clock, the bass are “busting” on top off the main water points and side pockets. These fish are feeding in shallow water from 1-5 feet deep.

At first light, throw a black buzzbait or dark topwater lures like a Spook or Sammy. As the sun gets up and the bass start to scatter, try throwing a white chatterbait, spinnerbait, or fluke. Then switch to deep running crankbaits around mid-morning.

These bass seem to be holding on these points almost all day so as the day wears on, fish a little deeper around 15-20 feet. Switch over to drop shot or shaky head rig in green pumpkin or morning dawn for a late day bite.

You will have to work to get your limit of fish, but the fishing is still good. Capt.Glenn 'Teach'Corley captain@captteach.com
