Left Friday afternoon and My younger brother in West Va. said he and his Son Brandon would have us a Campsite ready by the time we arrived. It was Our Older brother Johnny, My Girlfriend Gina, Her Nephew David and Myself and Holly (Our Dog)... We went to Walmart and Bought license and the such and off we went to Thurmond on a part of the River We grew up on. Had a great Time Smallmouth Fishing on my Hometown waters of the New River or Bronze-Backs as we Call them. We caught a Bunch of Fish including Rock Bass, Smallmouth Bass and I even caught a Nice Walleye. My Girlfriend caught the Biggest of the trip with her first ever Smallmouth on her First cast. Regardless of size, These river Fish are strong!! and Man, Did we have a great time!!. Can't wait to go back!!! The weather was beautiful and as always the scenery was breathtaking. I would love for a group of us on the site here to get together and Go 1 weekend, The license is about $20 and if we decide to return, it's only $3 more a day to Fish. I'll warn ya though, The walk to this Big Rock where we experience the best fishing is about 3 miles or so from Camp or we can ride Bikes. The fishing is fair all along the River and it's usually best in August, I just had to get up there...LOL. I'll share a Video of my 9yr old nephew strumming some campfire Music as we woke up Sunday Morning. You will see he is Shy not to mention, Not yet wide awake LOL...I just wanted to video him before I forgot about.

Thanks Guys and Jager, We don't keep any of them..A 4 pound Smallie is a citation catch and will get you a certificate and your name in the Book but it's been years since I have caught 1 close to 4 lbs but size doesn't matter to us, They put up a great Fight plus pulling them in the River current is a blast on ultra-light tackle.

Man, DCB...It is a beautiful state and when I was a kid my dad would come and get us from school on the last day and we would spend the entire summer on this river at this location...I cherish those childhood memories and absolutely LOVE fishing the new river and camping there...It's a blast!!!!!!
