  • Perch Jerking-Lake Wateree

The largemouth bite has slowed down considerably on Lake Wateree in the past week, but Lynchburg's Steve Lowder and his son Jackson still had plenty of fun on Cinco de Mayo fishing out of Clearwater Cove.

The Lowders started the day catching some bass on crankbaits, but turned to jigging with silver and green spoons on ledges and around brushpiles for white perch. The duo caught more than they could count, and released most of them, keeping a few for the frying pan.

The highlight of the day for Jackson was a 15-pound striper. While that fish put a smile on his face, he told his dad 'It didn't pull as good as a shad,' recalling a recent shad fishing trip the two enjoyed together.
