  • Family Turkey Hunting Tradition

In 2011, Lee County's Kyle McCutchen and his dad Tommy set out in the woods together for a father/son turkey hunt with Kyle doing the calling. Not long after the hunt began, Kyle was sure he heard a gobbler answering his call, but soon learned that it was two gobblers. When the two gobblers showed up together, Kyle and his dad harvested one apiece.

This season, Kyle awoke early one morning with the feeling that this was the day the family tradition would continue. This time, his granddad, Dickie McCutchen also came along. As soon as Kyle called the first time, gobblers sounded off in the distance. Kyle worked the birds in, and just like last year, he and dad each harvested a turkey. Although his granddad wasn't able to get a turkey, he was glad to be a part of the hunt, and hopeful that next year the family tradition will expand to 3 harvested turkeys for the McCutchen family.
