I know I only come here for advice, but I do read all posts everyday and love the videos. Question is for the turkey hunters. Do you guys ever put your decoys out the night or aftternoon befor the opener? Pros or Cons? I was thinking it would be easier to slide in to set up Saturday morning with less comotion. GT, watched your video in the rain and it got me pumped up!! Congrats to the new moderators also!!

I had thought about doing it on the private land I get to hunt, but then I decided it might be best to not give the turkey a chance to maybe see them when I wasn't there and realize it was a hoax and not come back.I don't know, but I bet I know someone who does....GT,lol

I always put mine out the morning I get there before light and never have a problem with spooking anything unless you walk by the roost tree. Diane has a good point I wouldnt take a chance of the turkeys seeing them when I want there.

LMBO @ Justin, As Long as I have.....I seem to be famous around here with that line LOL

Thanks BBGun, Well Buddy, When you have set decoys up the night before as many times as I have.........Oops LOL....Seriously, I don't understand the Logic behind this. Are you pressed for time or What??? I did see a article once about a Guy that did this with a $500 Stuffer decoy and the Next morning he had what the Bear had left which wasn't much...Why did he do it? I can't remember but myself..Like Outdoor life stated..I get there early and Love to see the world wake up...In my youth day video. I was running a little late dragging my Daughter out of Bed on the first morning of her Spring break LOL but I like to get there a Hour early and just listen unless of course I found 1 the Evening before and that's where I'll set up..Still about a hour before light...I remember one time when 2 Does were circling my decoys at Pink Light stomping and Blowing and I just knew they would mess me up so I stood up and started doing Jumping Jacks and the crazy things came within a yard of me before taking off Blowing...I was frustrated but 20 Minutes later, here came Big Boy strutting all the Way in and I......Missed him Clean!!! LOL...But yeah man, that Video in the rain was the Last I seen or heard from those 2 Toms..I hope they come back...I can still see him on that Limb...Awesome!!!!!

    What decoys are you using?

Thanks for posting man and thanks for your comment. I personally do not to leave anything for fear of what may find it or who might find it. Just get there early and you should have no problem. I don't like to but I have set up right in front of roosted birds before and if didn't bother them at all. Granted if you are too close and move around a bunch and make a bunch of noise, they are likely gone. I just don't see the point in setting up the day before though. A lot of people do it though. I have heard several that do that for duck hunting as well.....

Thanks for all the advice folks. Only reason I thought about putting them up Friday night was to make less noise that morning, thats all. To Gt, the decoys I am using are from Cabelas. One jake, one feeding hen and one upright hen. Had to buy new decoys this year due to losing my best friend and turkey hunting buddy last summer. Good luck to all this weekend.
