I had a great day at High Rock today. Caught this 32lb 4 oz. striper on 8lb test line with live shad. I was shocked at the size, we just don't normally grow them this big in High Rock. Now I am going for the 'big one.' I am 'hooked.

Very, very, very nice 'rock' and congratulations!!

Welcome to the site and thanks for sharing this great catch with us.

I saw your alias is tahoeforest....have you spent time in Northern Cal? If you have I know you must have fished for these 'rocks' or Strippers' as they're called there in the Bay Area. I caught a many of them. The Tahoe forest is a beautiful place everyone should see.

HEY GT, I didn't get yours either...lol must be doing something wrong. But I was just wondering about High Rock, I have a striper tournament this weekend and was wondering if you knew anything on the stripers, if they are up the river or in the main lake still. I live in Johnston County so I don't really know anything about that lake. Thanks in advance.

    Email?
Not sure whats going on with the email. Is your tournament starting from Tamarac Marina or The Wildlife Landing? There are catching them in the lake part but Not sure about Up River? My best advice would be to Follow the Birds!! the Seagulls have been thick in Abbotts creek this week...If your familiar with the Wildlife landing...We have had Good Luck going toward the dam...Stay to the right and follow the Bank along the Rail-Road tracks and you will come upon 3 Small islands...WE just troll around those Islands with a Number 4 Kayle Hook with Live Shad and No Weight...The Key is the Water temp at where your marking the Fish...Get your bait tank at that temp (We use Frozen Bottles of water) and when you toss your bait out, The bait will automatically go toward that Depth and that's where the Bite Is...But like I said, If you see alot of Birds working (not just Floating around but working)..Try and stay under them...They just Know LOL.....GOOD LUCK
