  • Deer aren't messing w/ feeder

I recently put up a nudge feeder for our deer. Before that, I just had some food blocks and corn out on the ground and was getting hundreds of pictures every night and day on my trail cam, mostly of deer. Since putting up the feeder, I am not getting many pictures and the deer that do come are not eating from the feeder. I still have the food block on the ground below the feeder. Should I take this away to force them to use the nudge? Could it just be that my scent is still there over a week later? I have peanut butter smeared all over the nudge bar.

sometimes it takes them a little while just to get used to something new. When we put up our feeder the sound of it throwing food out spooked them at first, but they got used to it pretty quick and I saw 7 deer when I went to fill it today.Deer are pretty observative of their surroundings and to change.Good Luck.

    Yup
Diane is right, give it some time - they'll get use to it being there and what they are supposed to do to get fed by it.

Yep, Like Daine Said, Just give it Time...I placed a hanging feeder once and the Corn grew 10 inches under it, I couldn't figure out why they wouldn't use since it was 12 feet in the air so I removed it...A few weeks later I was scouting and walked through the area and they had tore the ground up!!! They just know when something is out of Place....Think about this way...If you came Home and walked through your Living room and there was a Box of Explosives sitting there, Wouldn't you Notice and shy away for a while? LOL..Just give it time...Like Justintime stated..I have a feeder up now and the corn will bounce off their Back while they eat!!

    Feeder
HankG, we tried out a motorized feeder a few years back and the deer never did get used to the sound. We would have an occasional deer far off in a pic but very rarely would we see a deer on it. I guess it just depends. We have been using the Flat Out feeder from Day6(Now Primos has it) for the last 3 years and they work great. You can check them from a distance b/c of how they work. The only down side is that they sit on the ground. If you have an abundance of raccoons they will be the first to find it. It took the deer a couple weeks but now it doesn't bother them at all. Here are a couple pics....
