I looking for a good safety harness for hunting. I'm really looking at the Muddy ones and the HSS (Hunters Safety System collection. Any suggestions on either one of these or a different harness you may like?
The Best Safety Harness EVER!!!! Is a Good Ground Blind and comfortable Stool LOL But if you Must get off the Ground, Muddy,HSS, The Summit (Seat of the Pants)Are all Nice But I tell ya, For the Money, Check out the Gorilla G-15...Awesome for the Money (Around $50-$70) But if Money was No Object, I would try to find out What Kind this Guy is Using LOL....Amazing!!!!
@justintime...Not sure who makes it but I have seen a 'Arm' Bracket that goes over your Head for ladder Stands and Stand that face the Tree..It sticks out over your Head so there is Nothing in the way and It still serves the Purpose.
For me, no other than the Hunters Safety System pro series. A little more cost at $150 but a better product in my opinion. Forget about cost and do not compromise when it comes to safety. I swear by it.
I bought the HSS pro system when it first came out and I still uses it to this day... I bought it after falling 20 ft. and landing on my back do to a climbing stand that couldn't hold me up any longer. It was rated for 300 and I was 40lbs. shy of that that but it did have some years under it''s belt. There are some pro's and cons. I like it because it is easy to put on and easy to adjust and fairly comfortable. It does have lots of storage pockets on it which I really like. The only things I have against it is it's weight and being that it is a vest, it does get hunt up sometimes when drawing my bow back. If I were to buy one today I might would go with HSS Ultra Light or Muddy's. I have seen the gorilla ones but I have not tried them out so I can't really speak about them. Either way just get one and wear it...The most important $$ you could spend when it comes to hunting!! I'm 6'2' and 270 now, and I am so very thankful to still be here after my fall. I can promise you I will not be in another climbing or hang on stand without one on!!
I have been wearing the Hunter Safety Systems Pro for a couple of years now. I like using the rope and prusiks knot set up that came with my Summit Viper in cunjuction with the vest. It gives me about 4 feet of freedom to stand up and turn around if I need to.
The thing I like about the PRO is the pocket system. It has an anti-hang strap in a zippered chest pocket on one side and the other zippered pocket on the chest I use for my cell phone. If I fall I have both at easy access. That way I can take the pressure off my legs while I call for pizza...lol. It all so has 2 great big triple pockets on the lower front that I use for my range finder and other things. The elastic chest lanyards are good for hooking your calls on so you don't end up dropping them to the ground.
Picture of me on the right with the vest on...thing is once you get used to it ....you don't know it's on. It's so much a part of my gear set up that I'm lost without it.
