    No red squirrels
Yea I Remember You Said West VA, Has Alot. It Would be Nice To Go Up There, But I Wont Have That Kind Of Cash To Send On Squirrel Hunting. I Dont want to send anymore Then $1,000 on squirrels. Ive Never Heard Anyone Talk about Red Squirrels here, nor Have i seen any. Im Just going by what i read, i read somewhere that the mountains Have reds, so i would love to at least go see if i can find some. If I Go, And Get Lucky And Get a few, i'll post some pictures, heck id be happy just to see some in person. Thanks for The Feed Back.

    Reds
The only places Ive seen reds over the last few years are in Watauga and Ashe counties over 3000 feet. I had about 5 that lived at my house in Boone. You could try Elk Knob or Three Top gamelands for a good chance at Reds, Grays, and Chipmunks. The south side of Three top has more mast trees if you do make it up there. Hope this helps.

    Three Top
Chad, There are two sections of that Three Top GL. The largest section to the north is probably your best bet as far as access. Along Ben Bolen Rd. there is a large marked pulloff in the middle of a large old pasture. From there the mountain rises about 1400 ft to your north. I would suggest making laps in the huge hollers on the low side of the mountain. I've grouse hunted that side and it gets into really thick cedar and cliffs once you gain very much elevation from the road.

Hope this helps you narrow down your attack, and if you carry a shotgun there are plenty of rabbits and a few grouse up there as well.

    Good hunting
