  • Lake Wylie Bass Fishing Report

Even though it was a cold weekend and with water temps in the mid-50s on Lake Wylie, the bait, 2- inch shad, are still in the creeks and the fishing is good.

Back in the creeks start throwing spinnerbaits to the points and along the banks in 1 to 2 feet of water. If the spinnerbaits do not work, switch over to small shallow running crankbaits or rattletraps to catch these fish.

As the sun comes out and the temperature starts to warm up, you may want to switch over to a shaky head or drop shot rig off the points and humps in 5-18 feet of water. Green or green pumpkin are the major colors that they are hitting.

The bass were not congregated back up in the creeks like they have been, but they are more scattered with fewer bass holding together. Once you find the fish, you may not pull in any great numbers, but the quality fish are still there.

With the return of warm weather this week, the fishing should be better. The bass have not moved into there cold weather pattern on Lake Wylie, yet.
